Varanne 22:31 - Nov 30 with 11283 views | Lblock | Must admit I wasn’t sure about him early doors The red card v Rovers could’ve crumbled him His sub appearance today was great though wasn’t it? If only for that superb bit of skill on the left wing taking two Watford players out of the game???? He’s getting a lot more awareness of the Championship and showing better and better game smarts as we go. He’ll make mistakes but he’s got a good attitude and shows great endeavour. I’m not 100% sold yet but I’m now filing him in the column of probably a successful signing by the club.

Varanne on 12:19 - Dec 1 by QPROslo | Agreed. It's too early to assess which players will leave next summer. Hopefully in general this season's poor start caused in part by the need to bed in and gel so many new players, will persuade Management to keep player turnover to the minimum necessary to strengthen the squad in the summer. |
Yes, indeed. Unless we get that hoped for sell on fee from an Eze sale, or see Chair sold, I doubt there'd be much of a transfer fund anyway.
Varanne on 14:00 - Dec 1 with 3754 views | BrianMcCarthy | I don't know how to judge him because I don't know what he was before he joined us and what he was bought for. If he was bought as a Cryuffian ball-playing pivot, then he hasn't done it from his very first day - playing in the heat against non-League Spanish opposition when the conditions and the oppo were perfectly suited to that role - right the way up to yesterday. If he was bought as an English-style holding midfielder then he's doing a good job now after months of failing to do the basics of holding the centre, protecting the back four, tackling, breaking up play. Thought he was impressive yesterday, and is in a nice bit of form. But so many questions remain.

Varanne on 07:59 - Dec 1 by dmm | The club has options to extend Cook and Colback's contracts to 2026, as it also does with Chair's contract. Andersen, Fox and Frey, plus Paal and Dunne, all have expiring contacts next year. Who stays and who goes is anyone's guess at this stage. |
Cook and Colback both have an option on their side also for a third year on very good money.
Varanne on 18:59 - Dec 1 with 3508 views | davman | Really like the look of how JV is developing since his sending off. Also am in the minority with Madsen. Yes he was a "Prick" for missing that chance as per my contribution in the match thread, but with battling midfielders behind him I reckon he might yet impress as a ball player a bit further up the park. Absolutely cannot play him AND Anderson though... Love Saito too. As has been the case for quite a while now, the lack of a clinical finisher anywhere in this squad is killing us right now. Individually the players look good and they have started to create presentable chances, but they are ALL spaffing them - Saito, Madsen, Smyth, Morrison, Dunne, Ashby, Celar, Lloyd all been guilty in this week's games. That perennial problem looks to be nowhere near solved unfortunately. The ONLY thing Redknapp said that made me sit up and listen was that you can generally tell how many goals players have in them for a given season by looking at their previous performance in the league they are in; we have not had anyone in the last three years (bar Illias Chair) who regularly gets to ten goals at this level. THAT is, quite simply a problem we never seem to solve...

Lost cause, 80% of posters still can't get Andersen right. 60% can't get Kolli right. 100% are relieved Wszołek is no longer at the club.

Varanne on 22:08 - Dec 11 with 2555 views | Lblock | Samuel Field will rightly get the plaudits tonight However I thought Sam was like most of the player a bit rank first half. Whereas, in my opinion, I feel young Jonathan was good across the whole of his performance. As said before, he gets better with every performance He will make stray passes but I’m getting more impressed with him all the time Well done Mr Varanne

MOtM for me today. Dominant in midfield second half, after an excellent game against Norwich and Watford. Said a few weeks that he is going to be the key player this season, we've not had anyone like him for years.

I would like to petition for him to play further forward in Madsen's role (more often) leaving Kieran and Field behind him. I think his overall game and ability to press might help. Plus his tracking back might add to stronger defense.

100% agree, potentially some player, has it all, seeing him just sitting on the billboards just chatting with random fans after the game was so uplifting.

Varanne on 07:31 - Dec 12 with 1429 views | slmrstid | Absolutely superb last night, I think he has a bit of improvement in the final third still in terms of ball playing, but in our defensive and midfield thirds I thought he was brilliant.

Varanne on 09:00 - Dec 12 with 1207 views | Superhoops2808 | Several of us said these new signings will take a while to bed in and settle. It appears now they are the team is clicking. None are the finished article but now they are settling results are turning too. Its also no coincidence that they are getting a good consistent run in the team. This helps too in my opinion because you begin to think how others in the team are thinking. Another (like Saito) who is passionate about playing for the R's too

We were thinking exactly the same. Varane quietly gets on with his game, gone are the rash challenges, learning fast on the job. Feel a lot less reliant on Colback now.

Varanne on 09:53 - Dec 12 with 984 views | QPR_Jim | At times last night it felt like he was the more developed kid dominating a youth game. Seemed to be nobody on the Oxford team who could match his physicality but he was controlled with it too. After the second goal I noticed Cook had a quick word to refocus him, feel like the defensive unit (including Varane) take pride in clean sheets, which is good to see.
