Smyth take a bow. That's our goal of the season or any season right there. No idea what the keeper is doing there but incredible pace and composure from Smyth. He very much deserves it. Considering we were under the cosh for so long we almost nicked it.
Padded out at the beginning with the commentators talking about how great Loftus Road is to distract anyone from the lack of first half action. Second half we came out with a lot more purpose. Really love Saito. He's everywhere. Really deserves his first goal.
Mr Modest as ever but really good to hear how he feels this team is gelling and fighting for each other and recognising that they weren't doing that earlier in the season and that it's about graft in this division over pretty football.
Really like what he says in this interview about the team needing to improve and get better. Interesting that Kolli managed to play 60 minutes but was sick. Says a lot.
Apart from the often dreadful and sometimes unlucky finishing that looked like the Rangers we saw in the second half of last season. It is coming together and without some of our 'better' players. Saito really is a live wire, really getting up to speed. Nardi reminds me of both Peter and Kasper Schmeichel and if you watch the highlights you can see Caser making some really good movement to take defenders away from crosses to other players. Very unlucky with his two strikes and desperately unlucky with that strike off the post late on. I love how angry and annoyed he is after the final whistle. He's getting there now, I can feel it. Has pace as well. Dunne is such a brilliant weapon in the opposing area. Really uses his power and height to get onto things and seems to win them all. Ashby has those cross field passes down to a tea.
Much much much better. Now just put the ball in the net!
I have to say that is the best we have looked since last season. We finally look like we know how to play football and defend our goal. Numerous chances to win the match which will haunt us a little but such a huge difference, still with half a side. I feel like something has clicked. Famous last words but I just feel the engine has finally started. 4 points from 2 tough away games. A fantastic goalkeeper and a striker who now looks like the player we thought we were buying... That cross field pass to him is a weapon and he has some pace on him. Who knew?
What a shame you can't hear the commentary. What moron on the content edit at SKY goes, yeah, that's fine and let's it go out like that? Real shame as there was proper commentary.
Anyway, well done Rs, well done Celar, well done Nardi, well done Marti, well done travelling fans. A top night finally!
F*ck I must have concussion. Must be a head injury. I seem to think we've won 2 nil, Nardi has played like Iron Man and Celar has scored two goals like he's Charlie Austin. The commentator is Paddy McGuinness? Am I okay?
A full blooded game where our midfielders actually got stuck in.
Nardi with some wonderful saves. Their keeper too, especially the one from Lloyd at the end. Ref did well spotting the handball on their disallowed goal.
Shout out for Saito, I think the kid is really good and has plenty of skill. Varane getting up to speed and looking much better too. We're not finished yet!
We could really do with their Cannon who is an excellent number 9 for them. He has a touch of the Charlie Austin's about him.
I am guessing most on here will be too young to remember Paul Warhurst? Mainly played as a centre back but Sheffield Wednesday deployed him as an emergency striker because they were down to the bare bones. He was an absolute menace in the opposing box an had a regular eye for goal when needed and then went back to centre back in other games when he wasn't needed up front. You watch Jimmy Dunne and he always looks like our most effective player in the opposition box, he seems very comfortable up there and he causes no end of problems. Just wondering if he could be deployed as a Paul Warhurst emergency striker for us? After all, apparently Warhurst only showed evidence of being good further up in a few training sessions and then they took the risk. I'm not saying by any stretch of the imagination that this is the solution to our problems, but, perhaps while we have problems and while we seemingly have an overload of right backs that perhaps it's an experiment worth doing given that we just don't cause enough physical problems up front and Dunne up there, at 6 foot 4 would be a very good target man to lay stuff off and chip in. Just a thought. I'll shut up now...
