Expectations on Russell Martin this season on 21:31 - Jul 20 by Fireboy2
I would love us to be challenging the top 6 this season, if we don't then hey ho 🤷
If we go down then hey ho 🤷
No matter what I will still go and watch as many ganes as possible.
Most of swans fans are level headed and would feel exactly the same as me but some still think we should be in the PL and can't accept our place.
These people moan and gripe about the team and manager and these people I suspect would moan about alot of other things as they are naturally pessimistic, it's the way of the world.
My question, which was sincere, was to ask how long that he had supported the swans, if it was 10-15 years then this person has only known success until recently and therefore expects us to either be challenging at the top or actually get to the PL, if he have supported the swans for longer I suspect he is naturally pessimistic, ateotd we all can't be positive can we mate 🤷

. The game changers this term are the head and tail of our spine.
Midfield is now more than sorted with Downs gone.
The base - HD and NW are a massive delta on last term, in so many ways.
However should Joel leave as predicted and expected, our spine will be weakened massively.
RM said he would initially sort out our defence, then midfield, then attack. He failed. We plummeted from Playoff finalists to a lowly 15th.
Nothing progressed. We regressed. Esp our defence - the thing RM said he would tackle first.
Joel is the key. Without Cooper's Joel, Martin is gone.
4 weeks into a 6 week much heralded pre-season and we seem worse. The Plymouth game was flat, devoid of zip and ambition. Today seemed no better.
Martin needs to step it up - actions speak louder than words, Rusty.
.
.
How about getting back on topic, instead of all this current puerile claptrap right now by the usual suspects offering nothing of analytical substance.
Up your game, do some deep (shallow will do) dive analysis and insight on our current issues, risks and above all else Opportunities (with a capital O, for John) to get Top6 where we belong, and where we are accustomed to being.

Isn’t it incredible that when we were in the top 6 under Cooper there was uproar on this forum that we aren’t going up automatically (?!).
Now he’s left and we have Martin, who had underperformed every single season of his managerial career, it’s all now “if we get relegated then hey-ho”.
Incredible how low expectations have got in such a short period of time. Despite the fact we have strengthened the side with some unbelievable quality along the way.
It’s a very slippery slope, this excuse making and acceptance of mediocrity. The exact opposite of the attitude that brought us our very best years.
People say they are looking to get the “Swansea way” back, well it’s missing in the fan’s attitude just as much as on the pitch. We always wanted to push for greatness on our climb, it now seems to be replaced with an apathy or a “happy to be here” attitude.
It’s a travesty.
Swansea Independent Poster of the Year 2021 and 2022.
Expectation, he will improve on last season. We’ll be better at playing his style of football. He’s got a ball playing centre back, which takes a lot of onus off Naughton. He’s got Allen, who doesn’t have Downes physicality, but should be ideal for playing from defence to midfield and will hopefully enable us to do that with more purpose/less slow build up across the back line.
It won’t be enough for top 6 IMO. We’ll concede less ‘unforced error’ type goals, but still too many to be consistent.

It doesn't matter how many games you go to, life just gets in the way sometimes and theres nothing wrong with that. As long as you and your dad are enjoying thats all that matters. Lovely post.
When I was young and single I went to a lot of away games. I married, had a son, work then ill health and now work again get in the way (of home games too) but my son wants to go away now, he's 14 and has never been so we are making plans. Not sure where yet, depends on my rota and the fixtures.
At my sons first game, it was Myself, my father and my son, we beat WBA 3-0 and he was 6 years old. I had a season in the East but got us seats in the West. he was bored long before the end even though it was a good game, there was a good chunk of injury time, 9 minutes wasn't it? Memories eh. people do get too carried away, I used to but there's more important things. I plan on making my sons first away trip memorable too.

My old man took me for the first time in 2005 or 6 i have had a season ticket since appx 2008 ish
So you only had 2 or 3 seasons experience of league football below the championship.
Since then you have experienced the best period in our history, all I can say is try and enjoy where we are now as you have experienced the best period in our history.

Great story Cat, my eldest is 15, perhaps we could meet up at away games? I'm sure they and we would get on.

Hello
Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Load up your votes people, a few more needed for a proper poll.
Has turned out to be an interesting poll, suprising that 65% + think we'll have a good season finishing top 10 and up given the amount of pessimism on here.

I think the negative posters post the most and make the most "noise", its never a true reflection of the fan base. As I have always said, speak and listen to supporters locally and at matches and you get the real thoughts. From this I feel the majority are hoping and expecting a good season this time, but if we are not in and around the mix in November it will be time for a change. The past is the past now look forward to the future, is the vibe I am getting with a week to go, not only my thoughts.

Unfortunately they are making the noise mainly down to the fact that they want to point out that people have been unfair to Steve Cooper-Ultimately they have become the people that they are trying to make the point to.
Some of the posts about Martin are quite personal and quite strange-for example AC who seems to have a very personal hatred of him, going as far to knock where he lives etc.
These posters are very obsessed individuals as shown by their posting and always wanting the kast word-even going as far to cover their obsession up by saying that they have to put other posters in their place and won't allow them to get away with things....... Its obsession however way it's covered up.
