Build up and match thread AFC Wimbledon on 14:29 - Oct 5 with 2919 views | 442Dale | There is now no excuse to not be looking at the unattached players and getting a couple in, with priority being at centre half. The board need to be seen to be backing the manager with this option now. It was all wel and good going with a smaller squad, but there has to be contingency planning in place for all situations.

Build up and match thread AFC Wimbledon on 14:22 - Oct 5 by Dale23years | Shocking team, shocking bench, shocking decision by board to go with a stupidly small squad. Keith Hill and Dunphies over spending last season ( or last 2 seasons) has come back to bite us on the arse. |
I don't think Hill and Dunphy overspent at all. The small size of this squad seriously worries me to the levels of the chur talking about world-wide scouting networks. Given the windfalls we've had, if this is all we can afford then we have serious issues. I don't doubt that the cost of running the club has shot up, but right now it looks like we'd not have the finance to operate in league 2.
Build up and match thread AFC Wimbledon on 14:38 - Oct 5 with 2848 views | DaleyBrent | Backs against the wall! This is what being a Dale fan is all about! Fully behind BBM and the lads through what is undoubtedly going to be the toughest period this Manager / group of players will ever go through. Brick walls etc! Up the Dale!
Build up and match thread AFC Wimbledon on 14:40 - Oct 5 with 2835 views | boromat | Big challenge today now. The only positive I can take is the performance midweek against a full strength Bolton side. Hopefully we can still get a result.

Build up and match thread AFC Wimbledon on 14:24 - Oct 5 by Nigeriamark | Great opportunity for Tavares. If you were going to make your first start against anyone in the league Wimbledon would be in the top 3. Certainly weak at the spine of our defence but lets remember they have not won a game the whole season so far so are also under pressure |
Good point, and admirable effort to see the positive! I haven’t seen Tavares play but apparently he’s a fairly agile player who runs a lot - that could work well with him being supported by Wilbraham and Andrew.

We will see when the next set of accounts get published. Am 100% behind BBM,and believe when everybody's fit we have a good starting 11, but the squad in general is poor with no real alternatives or pace [Post edited 5 Oct 2019 14:55]

I'm staggered at how thin the current squad has become, admittedly with more than a fair few injuries, which we didn't suffer from too badly last season. I hope those who pull on the shirts today will rise to the occasion, but must admit ; there is financial prudence, and financial suicide.

I am guessing that we have a gap of circa £1m between income and expenditure if we don't sell players or get a good cup run. Add to that the severance package for Hill/Beech and that must add at least £500k to that. The player sales and cup runs just fills the gap. But this squad needs some pace and a striker and it can't be much worse than the start we have now made in this game

Build up and match thread AFC Wimbledon on 15:34 - Oct 5 with 1997 views | fitzochris | As bad as our all-round play is here, you can’t really blame the players entirely. It’s a complete clusterfook of a selection caused by a small squad incapable of covering injuries. It was pointed out by me when our CEO robustly supported the policy. The truth is, what money there is, isn’t being spent because players won’t sign for us on the terms being offered. Do not believe any horseshit about BBM getting every player he wanted. BBM has no choice but to accept it. Our CEO believes our natural level is Evo Stick territory. Guess what Dave? You might just be right.

Bang on the money. The responsibility for this sh!tshow lies firmly on the shoulders of one man. I hope he's enjoying his day at Wimbledon.
