Official Ashes Thread. on 20:22 - Dec 16 by orion3016 | Time for changes in the last 2 tests? They've worked out swann. & Anderson, no better evidenced than how bailey tore apart jimmy for those 28 runs. Do they stick with the old guard or bring in one of the other quicks plus panesar? Then why stop there considering the way kp & prior have batted |
They might as well although the batting's more of an issue than the bowling. Cook, Carberry, Root, Bell, Ballance, Stokes, Bairstow, Swann, Rankin, Finn, Anderson. Stick Broad in if he's fit and give Anderson a rest.

Official Ashes Thread. on 20:14 - Dec 16 by exiledclaseboy | Absolute carnage this morning. Words have continually failed me throughout this series at England's ineptitude. |
I did say back in the summer, that we got lucky, things then could have been a lot lot different. We've be a shambles, we haven't been able to hit the ball off the square for most of the 3 tests so far, yet the Aussies have blazed the trail with an array of shots, although I think a lot of it has been down to the intimidation I honestly don't think England have coped very well with it al all.

I don't accept we got lucky in the summer Max but we've had this debate before and we're not going to agree. You don't win Test series 3-0 (almost 4-0) by getting lucky. You could point at certain incidents in the summer series which had they gone differently may have swung some of the games Australia's way. But there were equally as many incidents which could have gone England's way. But that's by the by now. England have been utterly abject in this series from about half way through day one of the first Test. They've made a good Australia attack look like world beaters when they're not and they've been terrified of Johnson. They've all forgotten how to build a Test innings and have managed to find inventive new ways of getting themselves out on flat pitches. There really is no excuse for how bad England have been in this series. With proper application with the bat the series would have been competitive because this is only an average Aussie team. But when you can't be bothered with the basics then even average teams are gong to whomp you. We've been gutless. F*ck me I sound like Boycott now.

The mental edge has been men against boys. 3-0 in the summer wasn't a true reflection. Got to give the Aussies credit particularly lehmann and the plans they've executed brilliantly

Fair enough, good points there. They've been gutless without doubt, as you say most of the shots made were terrible, some worse than you might see in the county games scrap that Ashley Rd in the summer more like, but I do think the Aussie sledging has put the fear of god into them, bleeding bunch of crimminals nothing changes

My Sky go wasnt working this morning when KP was out but the BBC text commentary said that once he decided he was taking Lyon on there was always one winner and it wasnt going to be the one holding the willow in his hand | | | | Login to get fewer ads

it'll all be over by 5am mun, Johnson and Harris will bowl a few snortters and see em off, hope Broad doesn't bat if England do lose a few early wickets cheaply [very likely] I don't see the point of him risking a more severe injury.

Or the wicket melting in 45 deg heat is also a possibility

I think the blame lies with more players than just KP to be honest, plus the selectors with them having failed to take the best current blower in Graham Onions with them and failing to play the fastest blower out there with them in Steven Finn.
