Ins for 21/22 season 13:51 - May 5 with 24033 views | burnsieespana | According to twitter we are apparently looking at Kyle Hudlin of Solihull Moors FC. Suspect we will be linked with huge number of potential signing this summer so thought worth a new thread.
Ins for 21/22 season on 20:45 - Jun 15 with 3299 views | Daniel | We're not far off an Ipswich Vets XI now. That's Gerken, Eastman, Smith, Chambers, Skuse and Sears on the books and we're in talks with Nouble. Just need a left back, central midfielder and a couple of wingers to finish it off.
Ins for 21/22 season on 20:58 - Jun 15 with 3282 views | bwildered | More like jalopy corner. Another lazy appointment, four guys from neighbouring clubs . Wonder if Mullins actually wanted any on the payroll, or was told whatever ?

Daniel - it has not gone unnoticed hence my earlier comment 'I fear I am losing the faith after 42 years' Like you - I cannot see myself renewing my season ticket. I feel very disillusioned with CUFC at the moment. On a positive note I am hoping Skuse, Chambers & Sears prove me wrong

Ins for 21/22 season on 19:45 - Jun 15 by burnsieespana | So far Sears is the only one I have doubts about but hope to be proven wrong Skuse and Chambers good signings and highly rated Sears is an odd one in many respects because when he first joined IT he scored well playing a central role but then virtually all his future games were playing wide which both cut down his chances and damaged his confidence. |
Indeed, recent EADT article about Freddie’s Town career said just that. Hopefully we play two up top with him (and Nouble?). I’m excited by all three of the Ipswich signings. Important to remember we have a very young squad, so these three add very recent League One experience to the ranks - plus camaraderie hopefully.
Ins for 21/22 season on 22:29 - Jun 15 with 3232 views | mfb_cufc | If we were signing three players who had played all their careers in League 1 and above, we would be saying what great signings we have made, considering we finished 20th in League 2 last season. But because they all came from Ipswich, it somehow undermines what good signings they are. Like everyone on this board I hate Ipswich, but we have had good signings from them over the years, and I am sure the latest three will be added to that good list.

I have no problem with our signing players from Ipswich. If any of three recent signings turn out as good as Gavin Johnson, Mickey Stockwell or Wayne Brown (the player!) then it’s a pat on the back for the recruitment team.

I think that's a really good point. If they were joining from Sunderland or Portsmouth the fans would probably be happier bizarrely. All three of the players we've signed are experienced footballers who have played the majority of their football at Championship level or League One at worse. I'd far sooner we sign players like this than 19 year olds from Championship clubs that have barely kicked a ball in the league. It seems to be a massive change in direction by the club but I feel we've got a far better chance of getting out of this division with an older squad rather than a younger one.

Ins for 21/22 season on 10:10 - Jun 16 with 3145 views | thrillseeker | Sears - been injured and not a great goalscoring ratio Chambers - experienced yes but no longer the player he once was. Slow and I cannot honestly see where he fits in Skuse - the best signing of the Ipswich trio and will probably be a good addition My real issue is the perceived lack of a scouting network. There have been hundreds of experienced players (age 28-31) released but like always the easy option is taken. I am hoping Sears & Chambers prove me wrong

Ins for 21/22 season on 11:27 - Jun 16 with 3128 views | burnsieespana | Feel club can't win because for a longtime we have bemoaned the lack of experienced players who we feel are the only ones who are going to get us out of this wretched division (3 year coming up when we could have had real love Cal derbies against IT) yet when the philosophy has clearly changed under a new HC we are still not happy! I have rese various about Sears but the three other signings are good We need to remember we finally shed 20th last season so a good number of players wouldn't look in our direction I expect particularly in June!
Ins for 21/22 season on 12:52 - Jun 16 with 3104 views | bwildered | At present it is all about location . Tractorboys need not to relocate, and family life’s settled. Chambers had talks also with Gills, who probably offered him more, but a car share from Suffolk to Tiptree was more appealing. Sears was undoubtedly a better player when he left than when he joined us, but was then required on the wing rather than down the middle due to there big buck signings . Still require another striker/ set piece specialist at a minimum.

I just see them as signings and wish them well. I've no time for ipswich but these will be our players now and several from up the road have been good signings before. Experienced players have been needed, possibly even to better understand the inexperienced management so I am pleased with what we've done and the look of Mullins' number two. Sears is sort of unknown at lg two levels and he might be a surprise to us even if personally he wasn't one that I was keen on. Would be keen to give the Maidenhead lad a go too but Frank returning may reduce the options. So far so good, exiting lg two for LG one is the priority and I'm not bothered how or who. Ins for 21/22 season on 14:54 - Jun 16 with 3075 views | durham_exile | Regardless of my loathing for the Poorman Road outfit, I must accept that we have signed experienced players and wish them all well for the forthcoming season. It must not be overlooked however with our almost obsessive pre-occupation for the Suffolk club that we have signed one of the top midfielders in Luke Hannant from Cambridge. We may yet add Big Frank and Alan Judge to the party and so that will give us more firepower up front. A shame that we cannot push the boat out for Scott Quigley from Barrow (guaranteed 20 goals per season) but I suppose we can't have everything. Up the North Essex U's

It seems like Ipswich is the easy option, but there is another way to look at it. Having finished 20th in League 2, I don't think we would be attracting the calibre of player as Chambers, Sears and to some extent Skuse if they weren't at Ipswich. As bwildered mentioned, Chambers would have probably been off to the Gills or another League One outfit if Colchester wasn't so close down the road. Relocating your family when you're in your mid-thirties for a one/two year contract at most before retirement is probably a tall order for many - dropping down a tier to remain in the same location is probably preferable. Chambers is certainly League One quality in my mind - he started most games for Town last year, who were semi-challenging for the playoffs all year long. The same goes for Skuse, though I don't rate him quite as highly. Sears too is an excellent signing and could end up being one of the league's top goalscorers for me. Quite simply put, I don't think we'd be attracting any League One calibre players at all if we were a club out in the sticks like Carlisle. Incidentally, if we poached Judge I really do think we'll be in with a shout of promotion this year. [Post edited 16 Jun 2021 20:12]

Ins for 21/22 season on 20:39 - Jun 16 with 3016 views | burnsieespana | Interesting thoughts Gosbits. Those of us by oldies still the bk be ack be to 1957 when Benny Fenton missed the penalty against IT which virtually gave them promotion and consigned us to eternal struggles in the lower division's. I am in two minds about Sears but the three other signings are in my view excellent.
