West Ham say striker Michail Antonio is in a stable condition and "conscious and communicating" after a car crash.
Looks lucky to get out of the car alive judging by the pictures.

Played a few games on loan for the U’s when a young lad . Best wishes to him on recovery.

Ihionvien
at 08:23 22 Nov 2024

Peterborough United striker Bradley Ihionvien faces months on the sidelines after a scan discovered an abnormality in his leg.
Ihionvien has suffered a miserable time since moving from Colchester United at the end of the summer transfer window. He scored on his debut as a substitute in an EFL Trophy win at Gillingham, but picked up an injury during that game. He has made just five substitute appearances in total for Posh, the last in a 1-0 League One defeat in Bolton.

Ihionvien was sent for a scan this week to try to get to the bottom of the problem and the results weren’t good.

United thru time

United Through Time.
This project will celebrate the history of Colchester United Football Club by engaging supporters in sharing their favourite moments. These moments will be crafted into a timeline that will decorate the stadium, honouring the club’s history.
Will end up with all the usual big games, names in the great league and cup campaigns .

So instead let’s have some of your alternative moments, incidents which will not make the timeline but forever in your memory, on or off field in your association with watch the U’s , over the years.

United Programme

Too late for this season just wish it had an illustrated cover rather than a picture of a player on the front. Since becoming the United magazine it all looks to familiar with a player on the front . A different design every season instantly made you recall the squads, highlights and matches of that time, ( yes know the last few seasons would rather forget ) but the current player pic does not.
How about running a competition around the schools for budding graphic designers having a go.

Another Open day.
at 10:00 20 Jul 2024

The usual PR day for the club, trying to rally some support from young and old alike.
Also release of another new kit, they become synonymous with a particular time , so recent ones give not to pleasant memories. Let’s hope the new one will be remembered for a more positive and successful next couple of seasons .
Strange apart from one match kit the other season, the fans never seem to be consulted for their preferences, or am I wrong ?
Anyway any preferences anyone ?

No Pitches .
at 08:59 19 Jun 2024

FOOTBALL pitches are decreasing across the region, sparking concerns among those who love the sport in Colchester.

Think we can all list pitches across the borough which have disappeared over the years, from the pitch in the centre of town at Lower Castle park to numerous others.
Not only the generated cash but local social activity when you consider the Colchester Sunday league was made up of local firms, some with reserve teams. It was a fathers and sons journey for some and fellow workers and friends for others. All part of Colchester’s history .

Pay the Penalty.
at 13:15 16 Apr 2024

Let’s hope the U’s do not pay the penalty of another miss from the spot . Incredible scenes at Stamford Bridge last night, of players squabbling over the taking of a penalty.
Wonder if the U’s players will be so keen considering are recent record from the penalty spot ?

The next step.

A incident occurred during the last game where a pensioner fell down the last ten steps in the stadium.
BBC Essex had an item regarding this 11/4/24, 11-24 am, where the following advice was forthcoming.

The procedures should be - to report the accident to the club stewart while still on the premises, ( take names, get witnesses and photos ) and also report to Essex County Council who are responsible for issuing the safety certificate.

But if you want to play on the the original pitch it is an extra £250 . Disgraceful.

Larry Lloyd
at 15:32 28 Mar 2024

Former Nottingham Forest and Liverpool defender Larry Lloyd has died aged 75.

Remember him being player/ manager of newly promoted Wigan’s first visit to Layer Rd in the 80’s. Beat us by the odd goal in an evening fixture with much verbals flying around, especially a notable one for a ex Div One pro. At the final whistle turned around and give the Spion Kop end some back together with some Agincourt signs.

RIP .
