Energy bills 23:01 - Aug 24 with 48308 views | Hayesender | Watching the news earlier, they were talking about the impact these energy bill rises will have on small businesses. It got me thinking (dangerous I know) about the potential effect it could have on our club, and other clubs of similar and smaller size? Not only the day to day running costs and matchday costs, but also the affect its gonna have on attendances. Obviously when it comes down to heating, eating, mortgage, rent etc, days out with mates and family watching football, or any sporting event, are gonna have to take a back seat for many people. Unless the government (lol) take action now, its gonna be a bleak winter for many people and businesses, and I fear for people's mental well being

Energy bills on 16:20 - Aug 30 by Sakura | What I am wondering is do you actually just not understand or is this more cynical and an attempt to trick other people into being more onside with views around nationalisation We in the Uk import significant chunk of gas from Norway. Germany used to get majority from Russia but now gets it from Norway. So we are both bidding for that limited supply. Wouldn't seem hard to me to work out why our prices might go up? If we import LNG from US, Qatar, even Netherlands but now Italy and Germany are bidding for that same limited supply hence upwards pressure consequences for our prices too Hope others aren't easily tricked into believing such statements (Separate point on currency controls these now largely removed and over time would have been arbitraged away anyway ) [Post edited 30 Aug 2022 16:22]

That's twice you have been quite rude about well-respected posters here. If your energy-importing argument held up at all, how would you expect the resource-rich Norwegian Krone to have fared across the same period (clue: it has declined 10%). Just so everyone knows the definition of a gish gallop, it is a technique in which a person attempts to overwhelm their opponent by providing an excessive number of arguments with no regard for the accuracy or strength of those arguments.

I notice you didn’t address my point just chucked in a new one I assume deliberately moving further away from addressing any points i raised which you don’t have an answer for If you are interested on the unique position of NOK some starter for you https://www.newsinenglish.no/2022/06/14/norways-krone-weakens-again/ If you would like to counter and explain why there is no limit to what we can spend on the welfare support, why taking onmore debt in a period of rising interest rates might not harm us as a country further, or how we can defy physics and quickly meet our energy needs through a focus on renewables then knock yourself out [Post edited 30 Aug 2022 18:00]

Energy bills on 17:05 - Aug 30 by BostonR | Not sure your response is correct with regard to the figures you have mentioned. What’s obvious is that we have a big problem. My post was really centred on the solution which could be nuclear fusion-which is almost a reality. |

Energy bills on 16:03 - Aug 30 by Esox_Lucius | I have been following this thread with interest since the start as at the end of last year, my wife and I decided to get a PV solar system with inverter and batteries. We were advised at the time that the payback would be approximately 19 years but we still went ahead as we foresaw increases in the future (not to the extent that has actually taken place to be fair) after the last price cap before the latest one, our payback on our expense dropped to a little over 11 years and with the latest one it is almost down to 3 years. Since the start of January we have used 492.6kWh of electricity from the grid (21% of our total use) and have exported 1.01 MWh back to our supplier. I would urge anyone who has privately owned home with a South facing garden to invest the money in one of these systems if you can afford it. IMO, any new build should have a compulsory requirement to have a PV storage system fitted to it, even a communal one where not every roof is South facing. There is so much that can be done to contain our energy production within this country but I have sickening fear that the people who run the country can't see the level of profits they are currently enjoying, and god forbid working class people couldn't be screwed over. |
What are the payments like for the electricity you export back to your supplier?

I'm currently working on two new build properties on Burwood Park. A private estate in Weybridge. Houses are worth millions, one approx 10 mill. They've both been fitted with solar panels and I mean a lot of panels on the flat crown roof. They've also got recyclable heat source pipe work dug 100s of meters in the ground. All the new builds of this type of high spec house are getting them.

I shall help by going to the boozer clad in overcoat, scarf and gloves as the heating will probably not be on. Seriously, it's encumbent on all of us to keep pubs going - we've lost so many for other reasons the last ten years or so. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just to be clear, you've posted some fruitcake neo-con youtube video, scatter-gunned some Liz Truss-lite no-more-handouts soundbites, been really quite rude, and now you think I should explain to you the straw-man (and we are of course indebted for your explanation of these) you've just invented and ascribed to me...?! I am waiting to see if they have risen with the latest price cap but they are only £0.057 per mWh. Scandalous really; during the Summer it has amounted to around £2 a day.

Sadly, I can't make mid-week homes, so 'enjoyed' the intricate technical battle that was Wigan v West Brom (a match best described as Rugby League with very poor handling). I hope you enjoyed Hull rather more!

Gone are the days of Feed In Tariffs then?Or at least decent amounts. You look like you could easily convert your gaff into an off-grid one since it looks like someone else in benefitting from your panels. The trickiest part of the setup seems to be an autonomous water supply and boreholes aren't cheap.

Energy bills on 17:16 - Sep 1 with 4005 views | elnombre | Blimey, 30 years as a literal communist infiltrator working for Britain's financial institutions and you go and out me on a football forum?! Cheers, I'll probably get recalled to Moscow now and shot. Sakura advanced a couple of unsubstantiated arguments which the err, facts (re fx) did not appear to support (I've done a bit of currency trading. So shoot me. Although there does now seem to be quite a queue for this). I thought he was a little rude in doing so, but then I am a sensitive old Marxist. Nonetheless, I thought we had kissed and made up with a match-related exchange which I'm sure was sincere (we naive lefties do not recognise sarcasm). [Post edited 1 Sep 2022 17:31]
