Super Chris on 18:47 - May 4 with 1239 views | SaxonDale | Absolutely delighted that Barnsley stayed up today, don't think I've been that happy over a non-Rochdale related result for a long time. Will be interesting to see how Flitcroft recruits over the summer, Barnsley staying up may also help Rochdale in our own recruiting.

What part of me being happy for our former players can't you read or understand? I am not happy for the club or fans of a club who twice clipped our wings, but I'm delighted for the former players currently doing great at a host of different clubs. That is something to be proud of because Rochdale AFC improved them as players, but I don't need to wear a Barnsley/Crystal Palace/Brighton etc shirt to show it. You're aren't in the Dale Bus Station Patrol Stand are you? Go eat a kebab too quickly and throw it up out the back of the old Cannon cinema.

But it started with not understanding the Barnsley "love-in", it's been pretty much explained - most Dale fans were supporting them today for their connections to ourselves. Would think most will support them again next season too.

Like Dawson and Bolton today. Had he still been there I would've been gutted had they missed out on the play offs (although had he been there - they wouldn't have missed out on the play offs). As it was ,even though I followed Bolton throughout Craigs loan I couldn't have cared less now that they failed to make the play offs today.

I'll contradict things a bit and disagree there, was pleased to see Dawson do well but Bolton's success mattered little. Partly because of the GMR shite surrounding them, partly because they're just a team he played for. As has been discussed at length since the Whitey invasion, it's almost a Dale team playing at Championship level where Barnsley are concerned. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Super Chris on 14:49 - May 4 by D_Dale | Could there by a benefit to Dale? If so, that's my only consideration. Flicker will no doubt stay as manager there - but had Barnsley gone down I wonder if there was a chance of him becoming KH's assistant. |
I've been led to believe (but not at the Plymouth game) that Dale benefit from both Barnsley & Wednesday staying up.

Super Chris on 02:44 - May 5 with 987 views | hull_dale19 | Chuffed for Flicker and the ex-Daleys at Barnsley, O'Grady's goal was a beauty! Went to the Hull game today and I have to say it was one of, if not the best football atmospheres I've ever been involved in. Plenty of tension and the scenes at the end were indescribable!
Super Chris on 11:56 - May 5 with 901 views | mikehunt | Well I'm going to say I can't feel particularly happy for Barnsley and I haven't even got over the Parkin incident. I do like to keep tabs on our ex-players though and like to see them improve. But there is something odd about this cult of Flicker that is developing on here. Admittedly he has done well for Barnsley but to me it looks like he has stabbed Hilly in the back. As his assistant and mate, why didn't he help KH to turn things round whist he was there? Just another point of view, like.

I'm sure Flicker and Hilly worked as hard as they possibly could to turn things around, but for whatever reasons it wasn't working. That often happens in football and sometimes a different voice and a different approach can make big changes. To suggest Flicker wasn't helping Hill and that he has stabbed him in the back is one of the more extreme views ever heard on here.

To put a kinder interpretation on it, it may well have suited Flicker to create a siege mentality within the club, and though he wouldn't have anything but admiration for KH it may have gone down better to draw a line under his work at Barnsley in order to stamp his own personality on the team and club. There may also have been a degree of needing to dissociate himself psychologically from his former boss to give himself the right mindset to be a leader. None of this is any way disrespectful to KH, but may be interpreted by some folk as being so. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Super Chris on 14:37 - May 5 with 767 views | KenBoon | So what's the opinion of Bradford then? 1) Chuffed for Jones (and the other ex-daleys of course!) but not enough to see Bradford promoted and we lose that match (and income stream if that's your first and foremost). 2) you'd love to see him go up with Bradford simply because he's a Dale legend and the images of him crying on the Pitch after Stockport (remember them?) beat us still bring a tear to your eye too. 3) He's Judas crabby Jones with his sidewards passing and you hope he loses. Personally i'm option 2. He's a Dale legend and i'd love for him to be a Wembley winner.

Super Chris on 15:46 - May 5 with 692 views | D_Alien | Jonah's two previous experiences at Wembley haven't been great, have they? In 2008 he virtually carried the Dale midfield and ran himself into the ground, to no avail. Then just a few weeks ago, he was comprehensively bypassed by the slick passing Swansea midfield. Would love to see him walking up the steps with a big grin on his face. Couldn't care less that it's Bradford's gain if he does. Its the same argument about supporting ex-Daleys in their success as those currently at Barnsley. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

This. Jonah deserves his moment of glory and success at Wembley. He was a desperately forlorn figure sat on the turf the day we lost to Stockport. Hopefully his moment will arrive at Wembley in the play-off final. Unfortunately it will be with Bratfud, but I don't begrudge him the headlines he deserves. His professionalism, commitment and sheer passion for the game are a credit to him. 3rd time lucky I hope and a big 'two-fingered salute' to the man who engineered and hastened his exit from Spotland. Jonah is twice the man that scrote will ever be.

I don't like Bradford City and never will do, I don't have any feelings towards the other former Dale players like Stephen Darby and Rory McArdle and ordinarily I'd be hoping that Bradford bottle it. Part of me does want that to happen, purely because it's another local game next season. That said, I'd love for Gary Jones to get some success at Wembley. I just wish it was with us. But the guy is an absolute Dale legend and your point about the two-fingered salute to Coleman and Bell is a very good one. I will never forgive them for that.
