So it's a third semi-final under Southgate, against the Dutch I thought we were marginally better today with the 3 CBs (brought about by Guehi's suspension) allowing greater flexibility but there must be a lot of tired (and injured) bodies after two lots of extra time We've mainly got though via the odd moment of individual brilliance without looking particularly cohesive let alone fluent, but the FGs must've decided to smile on us for a change. No questioning the team spirit in a "circling the wagons" kind of way [Post edited 11 Jul 12:46]

| Forum Thread | Advert for First Team Physical Performance coach at 13:20 24 May 2024
https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2024/may/jobadvert_physicalperformancecoach/ A great opportunity for someone and fresh input at Dale, but the salary of around £30k looks at the bottom end of 'low side' to me, in comparison with the responsibilities. (I'm thinking of roles within the major organisation in which i worked which were at that level with less responsibility) Obviously, we're in a period of reviewing all expenditure. Anyone know what comparable salaries are at clubs at our level? Also, would that be the starting salary with annual increments? If not, it'd be granting experience to someone whose eyes will always be looking elsewhere to increase their income [Post edited 24 May 13:21]

| Forum Thread | Marketing update at 10:27 8 May 2024
Email received from the club which suggests an early shift in gear under the Ogdens For the first time (i can recall) technology being used to confirm and update contact details and preferences. (My only change was to update the country i lived in, which was recorded in my address as "USA") If anyone hasn't received this email, contact: office@rochdaleafc.co.uk |

With the opening of this new facility on what was becoming a moribund area of the town centre, it'd be great to see the club extend its community-focused outreach to places such as this by creating mutually beneficial links https://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/news-features/2/news-headlines/155580/a-new-gen Having this venture advertise the club (and vice versa) and even provide membership discounts to games at the COA should imo be exactly the type of thing we should pursue under new ownership. It could act as Dale's focal point in the town centre At the moment, the gym has links with Man U, and the two Liverpool clubs. There's an opportunity to change that by establishing a relationship with Dale [Post edited 27 Mar 11:49]

| Forum Thread | Independent football regulator - it's happening at 23:04 18 Mar 2024
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68602074 No reason this shouldn't pass through parliament relatively quickly. Can't see there'd be any incentive for anyone to oppose it or to seek major changes in the proposal - not in an election year I understand the due diligence process with WSH is taking this becoming law into account, since the chances are it could be applied retrospectively in terms of the licensing of club ownership |
| Forum Thread | T'2024 India Tour at 12:53 22 Jan 2024
The first test gets underway on Thursday, but as things crank into gear the emphasis seems very much on things being cranky https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/68054608 Stokes looks to be fit after his knee surgery but still not fit to bowl Brooks has returned home for personal reasons (may rejojn the squad later) Visa issues preventing the full squad from assembling Meanwhile. Kohli also missing the start of the series for personal reasons India haven't lost at home since we beat them in 2012, and we've been thrashed there on both subsequent tours. No idea how things will pan out |
| Forum Thread | 50 years at 22:23 12 Dec 2023
Almost exactly half a century ago to the day, Dale conceded 5 at home in a cup tie to another team beginning with G from the eastern side of England. Those of a certain age will remember it Walking away from the ground that day, it felt like the lights had gone out on Dale, but after years of struggle and perseverance, we came good again I've no idea whether we'll see another 50 years at Spotland. There's a similar feeling right now, but we survived against the odds then, and we may do now It took another 25 years before we took a proper upward turn. The period between 1999 (the arrival of Steve Parkin) and 2019 (the amazing night at Old Trafford) were, in the main, tremendous and well worth waiting for, since it seemed highly unlikely we'd ever see anything like it. Different times now; football is different. Dale deserve a future, and its fans deserve a club we can once more feel proud of [Post edited 12 Dec 2023 22:25]

| Forum Thread | T'2023 ODI World Cup at 12:19 4 Oct 2023
Starts tomorrow, against our 'old rivals' (in ODI terms) New Zealand There's talk about it maybe being the last 50-over tournament, or at least marking a curtailment of the number of full-day ODIs being played, so a lot riding on us to retain the trophy and of course India will be desperate to get their hands on it on home turf As far as i'm concerned, it comes as a welcome sporting relief from Dale |
| Forum Thread | Positions after the Forum? at 12:43 4 Aug 2023
After last night's forum, i'm wondering who might've changed their position - a change of heart maybe? Either way, might be useful to erm... gauge opinion I'll set the ball rolling. Before the forum i was a definite No. I'm no longer a definite, but haven't quite moved to a Yes. Going to take some time to think and see what else transpires over the coming days |

Bournemouth have just been boo'ed off the pitch at half time, a Premier League club who'll probably survive another season playing way above the level that their fanbase might allow Spurs fans started leaving St. James Park after 10 minutes, 0-3 at that stage. They're fifth in the Premier League |

Decided to start a separate Lancs cricket thread Surrey have had much the better of the opening game at OT, declaring to set Lancs 444 but after the earlyish loss of the openers, Bohannon (107no) and Croft are putting up a fight At 234-2 with about 25 overs to go, not safe yet but to come out with a draw would be creditable |

Anyone just see that performance by Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle? All-time shortest price winner at 4-11, and being spoken of already as potentially the GOAT Stood off the last with the field miles behind, just for the joy of jumping it but a heart-in-mouth moment for his connections |
