MK Franchise Match Thread on 07:43 - Oct 23 by EllDale

I'm still exhilarated from last night but mention earlier in the thread about next January's transfer window makes me a trifle apprehensive rather than anticipatary.
No-one doubts that in an ideal world that we would like two in and two out.
My concern is that the two (or three) leaving may be from O'Connell/McShane/Rathbone/Camps/Matheson/Morley given their form and their ability to command an undisclosed fee/ÂŁ300k (delete as appropriate).
Have our board got the b@lls to repel boarders?

...and what about contract extensions to any current players?

Poll: What is it to be then?

I think it's quite bizarre that Rochdale fc Twitter even announced that Done had scored the goal, you couldn't see anyone had touched Camp's wonderful volley on the way in, you can't seen any deflection on the tv footage either? To say it was Done's goal was completely stupid.

Or an honest mistake. From my seat, it looked to go very close to touching Done

Good job Henderson makes it clear he wants to see out his career here or we could get to January and then other clubs could come into the mix. Other clubs looking for a proven lower league goalscorer, other clubs locally who might offer more than we can. Of course, there wouldn’t be the same sort of affiliation that’s talked about in the article...

Statement of intent required in getting Henderson another 2/3 years because he shown that the older he gets, the better he is becoming as a natural goalscorer.

Hendo now needs 15 league goals to be Rochdale's all time league scorer. With 8 already this season the chances are that he's going to be very close to the record come May. Breaking the record next season would be ideal.

Having re-read that statement from 2017, I'm more worried now than I was before.

Henderson clearly enjoys being here, but he makes so many references to his stay being down to his relationship with Hill that he could well be tempted to follow him over to Bolton in January. it seems the affiliation you refer to is more with Hill than with Rochdale.

There's no way we can compete with them should they come a calling, even with their financial woes, and I reckon he would be just what they need. It could be a nice financial bonus for Henderson at the end of his career, as well.

Hope I'm wrong.

Three on the bounce is great for confidence and the way we set up and played against MK was perfect especially with getting the early goal.

Just hope we can now take this into some more difficult games and take some points starting on Saturday.

It does appear that Hendo is relishing life under BBM just as much as he ever did under Hill. If anything, he looks more like a leader of late than what I’ve ever seen from him during his time as captain. I think Hendo’s main focus is attaining the all time leading goal scorer accolade. He has made reference to it in the past & given the kind of guy he is, I believe leaving a legacy means more to him than a few extra quid.

I could well be wrong mind.

I don't think he'll be going anywhere in January. He wants to break Reg's record - and I can't see anyone ever beating Hendo after that - no one else is going to spend the length of time Hendo has been here and score that many goals ever again. That's why its important he waits till next season to do it - if he breaks it this season I too think that Hill will tempt him over to Bolton.

He might break it by January at this rate...

We play Bolton on 11th January.

Hill could tell his players to let Hendo score as may Goals has he needs (say 6) in that game to beat the record. After that they could buy him off us.

The fairytale ending to Hendo beating Jenkins record. Would be him beating it, scoring the winner in the playoff final.

Three wins on the bounce, and two at home and well-being flourishes about Spotland. Really pleased for the players and home supporters who have had a tough time of it lately.
Regarding Done, the adage is that a manager should not be concerned if a forward is missing chances. When they are not getting in positions to score is the time to worry. I like the concept of Done and Henderson up front. We look for the better ball with them. Like the lovely MJW pass to Done which he lifted over in the first half. The option to change it up with Alby and Andrew is handy. When Hendo and Bunney were up top, Calvin could really impact a game when replacing Bunney as it was a totally different challenge for the centre half. Often they struggle to quickly adapt to that type of change.
As for the next few games, i’ll take four points from four matches.

I agree with your “ for a few extra quid” comment. However if he is somewhere near 15 goals By Jan and a desperate team wants a striker from a “ selling club” then an offer of a couple of grand extra per week would have anybody thinking

Let’s hope not but 20 goal a year strikers are in short supply and we are fortunate enough to have one

It also seems that Hendo as reigned in his legendary temperament as well. No yellow cards yet this season

BBM has now been in charge for 25 games - W11, D6, L8, 39/75 points, the equivalent of 68 points over 44 games (1.56 points per game).

68 points might be enough for a playoff spot this year given there are only 23 teams and Ipswich and Bolton aside as extremes (top and bottom) it is a very close league.

Thats very poor if so. It was all Morley and Camps work, great technique and skill from them both. In fact the opposite of most of what Done did all night.
