We have 5 third choice centre-backs at the club and no decent attacking midfielder. Even our saviour on the goalscoring front missed an open goal at a vital time. We really are in a mess and is Hughes actually showing any signs at all of getting to grips with it? Bringing Long on to join fellow serial non-scorer Redmond was interesting. 2 goals in a few minutes to rescue a point - they've barely got that between them in the last 18 MONTHS. Another long and troubled season ahead and this one may well end in the drop.

Plain and simple were just not good enough to beat the top teams. We looked awful in the first half, it looked like Liverpool all over again,we literally looked like we ran up the white flag as soon as the game started.I believe some players are taking money under false pretenses with them actually thinking they are being paid as footballers. This going to be a very long season and unless something changes soon we are heading for the Championship.

This is where a by some so called "decent start to Season" brings you - after reaching a great 5 Points in 5 games. Without playing one of the top 6. Of Course your average will fall when you Play them. So well, to me it seemed quite simple to understand that you Need more than one Point per game not involving the top 6. Now there's 5 from 8, who would have thought? Not a so decent start?

Today we started with three at the back - with Bedfnarek, the only one playing without making a mistake, gets taken off at half time. Yoshida had his usual lapses (not punished, but two horrendous mistakes) and Hoedt... Putting PEH under pressure with the pass was okay for me, a midfielder should be able to cope with that. The real error was him not getting back into his Position but attacking the ball, which wasn't his Job, so Hazard was as free as he ever could be with Hoedt completely out of position. And the third showed that this can't be the partnership for us. But... I fear we still haven't got one on our books.

Hughes... The german commentators summed it up this way: "Southampton managed to stay in the league, but not thanks to Hughes or great Performances or making many points, but by Swansea imploding. Hughes managed just over a Point per game and for that Performance he was rewarded with a three years contract. It seems you don't have to do a lot to get such a contract there."

Lots of us expected 0-3 and 0-3 it was. There were some bright spots, Yoshida, Romeu & Gabbiadini showing how narrow minded Hughes has been about team election. All three played superbly and deserve to start every week. As for 3 at the back, just forget it. When we reverted to 4-4-2 at least we became more of an attacking threat.

Ings & Bertrand should be shot for missing sitters, in fact Bertrand was a liability all day, all over the place and nowhere to be seen when the second goal was set up from his position but with the man totally unmarked

A sad indictment on what the Premieship has become.

Saints seemed to set their stool out to not loose too badly. A number player who represent the city (but would not have even heard of it before they signed) and who get payed more than twice the national average wage every week stood an watched while the majority of people in atrtendance sat and watched even more highly played players run rings round them.

The referee booked 6 saints players despite virtually no physicality to ensure that the more highly valued assest where protected.

Eveyone went home, some to London.

For those who bleat, it's not fair, we can't hope to compete with the top 6, I'd like to point out that one of the top 6 is Bournemouth but you are probably right theirs is a far better run club than ours with a better manager and owners.

Some results so far this season:

West Ham 3 Man Utd 1

West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

Wolves 1 Man City 1

Man Utd 1 Wolves 1

Watford 2 Spurs 1

We used to get results like that but everyone at the club now seems to have given up and settled for 2nd best: 17th place if we're lucky and relegation if we're not.

Make no mistake about it, our club is currently poorly owned and managed but it has the potential to do so much better with better management and recruitment.

Right now, the club is full of very expensive dead wood, from top to bottom, including Kat, Gao, Les, Ralph, Hughes and most of the players. The board have got rid of the people who really brought us success, the managers, coaches, scouts and players, and tried to claim the credit for themselves.

As for player performance, the worst performers seem to be the ones we've spent a fortune on in the last 2 or 3 years. About 100 million has been wasted on players who aren't up to Premier League standard, often because they are simply too slow to play at this level. That is pathetically incompetent recruitment. That's why we can't compete with the top teams like we used to 3 ago.

Almost exactly 3 years ago we beat a Chelsea side with Hazard et al 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Since then our board has seen off the manager we had then, Koeman, and most of the players who played that day, Pelle, Fonte, Tadic, Wanyama, van Dijk, Mane etc, and wasted any money we got for them on duds like Pellegrino, Hughes, Carrillo, Boufal, Elyounoussi, Hoedt and Vestergaard.

I know we were playing Chelsea and they were very good but Saints looked so much slower than Chelsea. I do not think there is enough talent in this side to survive this year in the Premier League. I have seen 3 home games and in each one Saints seem to lack the ability toactually win games. So it may have been Chelsea but surely the warning signs are obvious - too slow, lack of commitment etc etc!!

Football management falls under the broader field of "sports management", so when you look for university degrees and scholarships, broaden your search to sports management and you may find more.

Showed some improvement but same problem in front of goal we are creating the chances but can't put the ball in the net. Charlie Austin still not getting the job done I'm afraid needs to stay on the bench and come on later in the game.Hojbjerg had a strong game again as did Redmond, the defense looked a lot better than it has for a while. All in all better but still room for improvement.
