Thommo quietly slips off to Pool Wednesday, 23rd Jan 2008 10:51 I must admit I was a bit surprised to see Thommo go. Alan Thompson has joined Hartlepool on-loan almost unnoticed! Am I the only one surprised by the "one month" emergency loan-move? On Tuesday, most of the talk was about Shaun Derry sealing a permanent switch to Palace. However, Thommo will apparently move to Teeside for 28-days in what was described as a bid to improve his fitness. Having signed Neil Kilkenny and Brad Johnson, plus having the fit-again Jonny Howson as well as David Prutton and Andy Hughes, Dennis Wise obviously feels he has enough strength in depth in midfield to allow Thompson to move to Teeside. On the outset, it does seem sensible. Thompson is struggling to get in the Leeds side at the moment and needs games under his belt to be fit. However, his experience, nerve, ability (notwithstanding his free-kicks) will be an invaluble commodity to have around if we do make the play-offs. Lets hope the "28 day" plan works!
