Today

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

As Sir John says, he should be behind bars by now.

That said,so should those who damaged the Bristol statue.

As I’ve said in another thread, it works. The fact that you and many others disagree with 12 randomly chosen people who were in court and heard all the evidence, which we did not, shows it works.

The fact that MPs from a corrupt government with a huge majority don’t like the verdict but there’s nothing they can do about it, shows it works.

Thousands of juries return verdicts everyday, this is just one case.

A little above my pay grade, but it's coming. make no mistake about that.

I’ve seen these lunatics trying to serve made up papers with no legal standing on doctors and nurses. Absolute nonsense, ‘freeman of the land, arresting under oath, sovereign citizens’. All sounds good fun, but legally meaningless.

I have read that there was a thing about Freeman on the land in the original draft of the Magna Carta but it was removed. There were many versions of the Magna Cart written and sent out but apparently they were all slightly different as they were hand written by different people.
Anyway, there are many misconceptions about common law, including "freeman of the land" that have no legal standing,

It doesn't stop some people though!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I do not condone what’s happened in Bristol, I can understand why people are angry with the verdict because on the face of it the incident appears to be a straight forward case, however the link you attached to the Secret Barrister article explains everything very well.

Interestingly the freedom of thought/expression defence is associated with protest and was used in a high profile case back in 2008 when Greenpeace activists protesting against climate change climbed a tower at the Kingsnorth power station in Kent. Zac Goldsmith, who was then David Cameron’s environment advisor gave evidence (as did others) to the effect climate change was seriously affecting life around the world, this supported the defence position which was that the actions were necessary etc etc and the defendants were subsequently acquitted.

There are at least 4 other cases involving GM crops, defence issues such as trident over the last 25 years where similar defences have been used. What’s happened has happened and it’s time to move on.

yes, maybe time to get back on topic?

I watched Question time Thursday night. I really don't know what's keeping Bojo in situ?

One of the points raised was about the alcohol. Where else in the real world can the workers take beer in and have a good quaff whilst they work? They do it in Westminster too, off to the bars at break times and have a few vinos then back to running the country. Isn't it the absolute height of stupidity that our lawmakers, our so called great and good can be debating and making rules and laws while under the influence?

Shouldn't alcohol be banned in all government buildings? If they want to party then go off to a restaurant or bar but don't get tipsy while running the country you steaming buffoons.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Really good edition of QT, felt a bit sorry for the Tory chap, seemed decent enough. I’d not last long in politics as I’d not be backing someone like johnson if I thought he was wrong.

Scary isn’t it that drink is so prevalent in politics, it’s the same in my profession. It is stressful, but I use exercise instead. People react with disbelief when I tell them I very rarely drink. Some get quite offended and demand why.

I agree with you on this. But on a side point, it wasn't so long ago that Britain existed on the liquid lunch, unbelievable when you think about it now. Hour for lunch, couple of pints and back to work, except Friday when many did not go back. Did it myself back in the day, as did many solicitors, accountants ect.

Only certain jobs though, you didn't see fireman, postmen, anyone who had to drive going out and having several beers. Not if they wanted to keep their jobs.

Only thing History tells us is to learn from it, the good and the bad stuff, you can't just turn the clocks back in time, that only happens in films.

Think the Tory guy was a Simon Hart who is the MP for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, don’t know him personally but he comes across as a decent guy. Unlike a lot of the Welsh Conservative MP’s he didn’t vote for Boris proposal to save Owen Patterson and change the terms of reference of the Electoral Standards Commissioner, given he is the Welsh Secretary and part of the inner cabal I think that’s a pretty big deal.

Some still do. One of our solicitors disappears Friday afternoon.
When I worked in County hall Fridays were great but some were over the pub every lunch hour.

He's toast, momentum is building, his own backbenchers want shot and there's also growing list of senior Tory's joining that particular party, Bungling Boris Out. that vile creature Mogg is still singing his praises though, its a job to think who I detest the most the list is that long.

That seems very true but it shouldn't be so. maybe it's a signifier of just how corrupt they all are?
I mean, look at the Senedd, many of us think they are useless but at least they mostly manage to behave themselves and not break the rules in an outlandish manner. Senedd members have made a few small infractions but that lot in Downing street look like they've been trying to set records for stupidity!

Trouble is, far to many Tory voters, blindly believe he's done nothing, then again blindly is the wrong word, don't care is a better description.

Ste
Do we have a voting choice .?Should we or should we all vote for one . ? Not that many happy in the old east Bloc with just the one party to vote for.
If people want to vote Conservative, they should not be treated like scum as is the case on these forums. We should live in a democracy and insulted people PURELY because they vote for one party is plain wrong.

Of course he should go but starting to think he is Teflon coated.

The whole thing is astounding. Where were the police who are constantly on duty at Number 10?

I agree with an earlier comment that I doubt there are many lining up to take his place and that might save his skin.
