Curtis deserves all the credit if we stay up. Guidolin has no excuses about sickness etc . Stoke missing 5/6 key players and we've not had a shot. Get rid of him now and put Curt back in charge.
:-) It could all go wrong Dav. Any managerial appointment is a risk and in my view and changing yet again is an even bigger one. I like FG. One word that sums him up for me is 'courage'. He was one of the few who were prepared to take us on in a time of crisis. He has pushed himself to the limit when I'll. Foolishly IMHO but it shows his commitment. He is also prepared to stand up and be counted in press conferences even though he struggles to some degree with the language. Couple this with the excellent relationship he has built up with his 'friend Alan' and this could be a successful recipe for next season. I think a years contract with a view to extending would be good for both parties. If things do not work out then at least we will be able to address the situation in time and not have to be tied down to a massive pay off. It can only be win, win IMHO.
This is an excellent post. Frankie has been in charge for 10 games (the normal benchmark.) Won 4, Drawn 3 He was given a team that wasn't playing, had no confidence and was absolutely unfit. Our other teams are showing the same problem (fitness.) He stepped in when others wouldn't or didn't want a dead cert relegation on their CV (yet, let's get the ones who refused) shows he's got the balls for the job Brenda's first 10 games in the PL resulted in 2 wins, 3 draws with a few players brought in. Loudstrops record in the first 10 is 5 wins 2 draws and a few players brought in FG's brought in one player or the board have brought in one of his requested players- listen to his answers when asked about Fer. He's obviously also willing to put his body on the line for the club
Personally after watching how his previous teams have played and they've taken bigger, richer teams to pieces, I'd be happy to have him as manager next season. OP has had a mare. As have others who have called for FG to be got rid of. On this thread and many others
If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

Laudrup's first 10 were 3 wins 3 draws 4 defeats.
It was all on a real knife edge with much growing grumbling discontent before we beat Wigan in game 8.
Toon WBA and Arse followed in games 12, 14 and 15, which, along with QPR, and of course Pool and Chelse inthe LC, seem to be what people use to rose tint the whole Laudrup era. Just saying.

Superb post. His commitment has been unwavering, even though illness

All said for me he assembled the best Swansea side I have ever seen.

can't wait until he gets promoted to Major_Partz and then General_Partz.
That'll take a lot of "time in grade."
Look at me. Almost 80, following the Swans for about 20, and in the stockade most of that time, barely avoiding the firing squad [etaphorically-speaking].
There are some right Muldoons on this site who need to take a deep breath and actually think before they post. Before FG and his coaching team took over it was played 21 -19 points, and now it's played 32 - 37 points. He's been brought in to do a job and fingers crossed it looks like he's on course to finish the job. FG and his team came in when we were 2 points adrift in the relegation zone, with very little investment they have taken an out of sorts team and dragged them up the table. It hasn't been pretty, but it's been by en large effective. A lot of effort goes in to preparing the side for a game, but as soon as they are on the pitch it's down to the players, if things go wrong we have to hope the manager can make changes to inspire the players and change the course of the game. We dont know what options and tactics are prepared in advance for different scenarios, but as the coaching team is a team and they work with the players during the week it may be that decisions around substitutions are a team effort as opposed to 1 persons genius or folly.
It is my belief that we are playing the current system because it's what the players are used to, the management are picking players to do a job and drag us over the line as too much change could be very damaging.
Previously, we have seen other struggling teams bring in managers to try and save them from relegation, did West Brom, Palace or Stoke play with panache and flair when they were in trouble, the answer is no, they tightened up and they lived to fight another day.
Newcastle and Sunderland have both changed their managers this season, anybody fancy changing places with them because their fans would love to be where we are at the moment.
The 3 clubs currently occupying the relegation places are much bigger clubs than the Swans, we are punching above our weight and if FG and AC keep us up we should be grateful. Bet Villa wish they had a manager in charge who was averaging over 1.6 points a game.
The club is going to need to spend a lot of money on new players next season, we need to have someone in charge who knows a good player and can spend that money wisely. Assuming he doesnt take the Italy job, if he keeps us up I would offer FG and his team a new contract.

There are clubs above us who are smaller, horses courses etc.
I'm just happy we are relatively safe.

When somebody makes a sensible point about a small club pulling away from trouble while big clubs spent far more with the same aim but failed, why obfuscate?

The same reason why some on here in their responses barahimlaphate.

I truly enjoy reading posts that are based on, and full of, good sense.

I don't give deep thought and reflection before posting on this site. It's a football forum FFS. I give my opinions when I feel like it and vent frustrations with other fans. I was frustrated on Saturday with a very poor performance for the 1st hour and the ultra defensive / diamond tactics. I prefer us playing with pace and width. Last season Garry squeezed out results and a points record that flattered us with a huge amount of luck and an unsustainable shot / goals ratio. Clowns like you couldn't see beyond the results and stats despite a style of play that IMO was going to cause us problems this year. Guidolin is a much better coach than Garry but I fear the same problems next year if we persist with ultra defensive / diamond approach. My opinion. If you don't like go and play with some statistics.
Guidolin came here when we in the shit. Not quite up to our necks but up to our knees. He accepted the job, albeit with a good salary and bonus but put his reputation on the line. There is no doubt that he's helped steady our ship and has got it sailing off again in the right direction. It's a combined team effort though and AC and the other staff seem to have all pulled together.
The original poster must have had an attack of Prosseritis to have posted that crap. Some people are too clueless for words aren't they....
Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day
Guidolin - if he wants the job - needs to be considered alongside whoever else is interested and the best fit needs to be found.
Personally I'm not sure it's Guidolin and not sure it's Brendan either. High on my list will be someone with a good working knowledge of some European leagues who can pick up a few quality players relatively cheap like ML did. Guidolin probably ticks this box, BR probably doesn't.
Also on my list would be someone who is looking to stay with us a few years and build/rebuild a career for themselves rather than wind down a career. I'd say that BR has the edge over Guidolin here.

Top post & assuming FG keeps us up I think he deserves first shout at the job, assuming of course his health & he is up for that - I'd potentially revise that if Emery (no not Dick) were available & up for joining us.
