The prospect of MH going all Schwarzenegger on Saturday and selecting a team of brawn and guts over brains has got me thinking, the best QPR XI who when push come to shove, you’d want to be in the trenches with as they’d run through walls with a big heart for the cause.
Here's my take on who I've seen pull on the shirt.
Kenny (He’s so stupid he’d do it anyway)
Hill (Honest pro)
Parker (The best full back we’ve ever had, massive heart)
McDonald (Captain)
Shittu (Animal)
Bircham (Passionate about the club)
Holloway (Honest Pro with morals)
Ainsworth (Massive heart, will do anything for team)
Derry (Honest Pro, loves it)
Ferdinand (Strong, confident, scares the opposition)
Gallen (Passionate about the club)

Chrits, we've got some piano carriers in that midfield.
Gallen was a bit of a lazy f*ck. Especially towards the end of his first spell when he returned from injury. Would go for Furlong over him...proper English Centre Forward, like Les, began in non-leagues. Knows all about muck and bullets football.
Definitely not Kenny! Terrible call. Would McLintock not make it into defence? Never saw him play, but from what I've read...

I did actually go with Bignot in that defence to begin with before thinking about Parker.
Furlong too I considered over Gallen, but I just remember that awful loan spell he had with us where he was a waste of space and when he came back he wasn't too crash hot to begin with so that went against him in my choice. Other then Les it's a struggle to find dominating forwards. For genuine effort perhaps Mackie should get it over Big Kev? | | | |

When Les played for us half the crowd moaned at him every week for being lazy and getting injured too easily. He got loads of stick. Funny how the memory changes viewpoints! I wouldn't say he was a 'trenches' sort of player. I'd go for John Spencer, actually. And maybe Paul Goddard? Or Don Givens.

We wouldn't run out of Molotov Cocktails either with Bob around (yes, I know he was cleared).
Surprised no-one's included Gavin Maguire yet. Good for a bracing five minute cameo. Ashley Young wouldn't have to do any diving to get one of ours sent off this time. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

John Gregory shows the change in football, gave the appearance and actually was an elegant midfield player but in reality was very clever as he went about his business...the quite assassin.
The key thing to remember the tackling rules have changed but what is possible nowadays is that forwards can prevent the back four playing just by closing and pressure, The likes of Les Ferdinand needed to look after himself 'cos of the bad back but i'd take Don Givens into the modern game.
I always thought Tony Currie looked after himself and was World Class?
