When will we actually get Huw Jenkins out of the club? 21:20 - Jul 28 with 25666 viewsSwansea93

I appreciate the attempts last season of certain groups trying to start some chants and protests, and I'm not jumping the gun and being negative here, but since Huw said he'd step down if we were relegated and he's still here is abit of joke, he's hired Potter and hasn't given him any backing in the market as of yet and is clearly calling the shots still. When are we all actually going to get Jenkins out because I don't think we can 'rebuild' with him still here, how many fans are actually going to forgive him for the sh!te he's caused the last few years? With Andre Ayew leaving on loan is a prime example of how Huw has run the club the past few years, big money signings on big wages leaving for next to nothing. Yes we all appreciate what he and others did for the club all them years ago, but we've moved on since that and we're talking about now & the future which he has shat on.

Eder, Tabanou, Borja, Ayew, Bony, Clucas, Ngog, Mesa to name a few of his signings that have all cost a club of our size a fortune, not to mention the questionable decisions he's made e.g not bringing Allen back when he had the chance, handing out long contracts to squad players who weren't playing in the first team. He stated we'd learn from mistakes which they clearly havent it's the same old story every time, we start the season in 7 days and we have signed 1 player officially for the '1st team' and if we start off bad Potter is going to get the blame for this whilst Huw is tucked up in his directors box getting away with all the sh!t.

I'm not an economist but if I buy something For 18 m and it turns out to be a dud , as long as I keep up the payments !i ll get my money back . Loaning out is maintenance ...a loan but in the end ,you still lose money

We will lose possibly 80 per cent of what we paid for baston, same with Bony and 50 per cent on Clucas ,not forgetting the hit we took getting rid of Mesa .

You can’t make a choice for me because I say I wouldn’t have either of them.

I’d choose the squad we had in our last championship season over the squad we have now.

I’d choose the financial position we were in in the last championship season over the one we have now.

I’d choose the manager over the one we have now.

I’d swap all that for the training facilities.

If overall you are saying would I swap the memories of being in the premier league and winning the cup for those things. Don’t know. I would probably go back to 2011 if I’m honest, although I’ve enjoyed the premier league. But it’s a false choice. Doesn’t have the remotest impact on whether Jenkins should go or not as those weren’t the only two options available.

Why did the club build 2 separate training facilities, both in the wrong place for the visiting teams ? Shirley it costs more that way around...?

Can we afford them now ?

I think “normal” is perfectly reasonable explanation of our financial situation after 7 years. I am not changing my point in a single post let alone “every”, you are dancing around giving a straight answer (as you do) so I must find different ways of clarifying or asking. The point is the same however.

Why do you keep saying “if you are asking...” and then making up your own question to answer?

Can you provide us with a team who’s financial position was better upon relegation after 6/7/8 years than prior to going up then? If it is an occurance that should be expected to where the opposite is called a failure, it should be fairly common place.

I can’t think of one. Ask the dog maybe?

Based on their last published accounts, West Brom would have had a significantly better financial position going down after 7 years in the Prem.

Significantly better.

Glad to have helped.

Yet we made 400% on Gylfi, 300% on Llorente, will make 400% on Mawson etc etc

At the end of it all. Net spend on transfer fees was around £2m a season. That hadn’t included Mawsons imminent sale, so it will be a profit on direct transfer fees in and out since we got promoted while enabling us to stay there for an incredible amount of time.

Wages and increased wage structure in general is a byproduct of longevity which is what we all as fans want, to then complain about the trappings of that longevity when we eventually get relegated smacks of agenda rather than sense.

Depends on whether it was priced as a dud in the first place.

If that was the case you would be right and not suffer any loss, but if you bought it on the basis of it being a high-flying international super-duper thing then you would take a bath.

And without wishing to reopen old wounds, this is precisely the sort of situation we were discussing with regards to balance sheet vulnerability when the last accounts were published, Lisa.

In a firesale situation it is not so much about unlocking hidden value on you best assets, as the fact that they only be sold for - sometimes considerably - less that you thought in 'normal' times, while you can't offload your dross at even bargin bin prices.

The percentage of his fee that we paid and is depreciating over the contract term if it come t9 an end without us selling him. So one quarter of £15m.

Same for Ayew.

Any amounts of salary that we don’t recover is on top of that.

Are there upsides to the stadium? Some. Small amounts though. And we have an annual lease cost on top of the big ticket stuff I mentioned. A cost that doesn’t fall on relegation (certain other costs do, such as provision of pitches for the local community).

So that's as positive as you're choosing to be at the moment.

Here lies the issue.

I am not going to speak for Lisa, but I very much expect her to defer any kind of conclusion until the windows (domestic and international) have shut.

However, it is obvious that much needs to be done to get the financial position shipshape, and time is obviously running out.

On a like for like basis WBA had net cash of £11.1m last summer, whereas Swansea had net adjusted debt of £67.6m.

A question? Your opinion?

Do you think the club will be under severe financial pressure with drastic future implications if more players are not moved on ASAP? I'm talking about the likes of Bony, Clucas, Fede, Fer, Ayew, Mawson.

I got the vibe that Dineen (Swansea Sound interview) was thinking that a lot of our players would have been SOLD as opposed to loaned in a very quick period of time, and in ample time way before the season started to avoid paying ongoing wage(s).

Perhaps it's just me?... but I'm assuming a lot of money will already have been taken from the parachute payment budget. Also am I right to presume loaning out players is not exactly a prefered option when it comes to debt management?

And just to add a bit more detail, although WBA had £10 million more in revenue they had £79million in total wage & NI costs compared to Swansea's £98.7 million.

In other words £20million less in wage costs, contributing to them making an operating profit of £25.7m vs a loss for Swansea of 23 million.

Like Swansea they also made some profit on player sales, albeit without being anywhere near as reliant on it, contributing to pre-tax profits of £39.8m vs £13.4m for Swansea.

So it sounds like an easy remedy for us then which is what the Club are attempting to do.

However, when were Siggy and Llorente sold in terms of the timing of the accounts?

Surely in the financial game of football timing is all important.

It is all a bit if a double-edged sword.

Debt is high in absolute terms and needs to come down, in my view by something in the order of £30m from my estimated level of around £70m currently, to put the club on a sustainable path in the medium term.

That can potentially be released by selling Mawson, Clucas, J Ayew, and leave a small amount for a couple of new signings.

However, unless the total wage bill is also slashed, the club will still likely be bleeding cash next season, and it strikes me that more needs to be done to shift players either on loan or outright, otherwise the net debt position will just steadily climb back to unsustainable levels.

However, I must admit I can not get good forecasting visibility on this as I don't know the individual salaries or the relegation clauses.
