When will we actually get Huw Jenkins out of the club? 21:20 - Jul 28 with 25728 views | Swansea93 | I appreciate the attempts last season of certain groups trying to start some chants and protests, and I'm not jumping the gun and being negative here, but since Huw said he'd step down if we were relegated and he's still here is abit of joke, he's hired Potter and hasn't given him any backing in the market as of yet and is clearly calling the shots still. When are we all actually going to get Jenkins out because I don't think we can 'rebuild' with him still here, how many fans are actually going to forgive him for the sh!te he's caused the last few years? With Andre Ayew leaving on loan is a prime example of how Huw has run the club the past few years, big money signings on big wages leaving for next to nothing. Yes we all appreciate what he and others did for the club all them years ago, but we've moved on since that and we're talking about now & the future which he has shat on. Eder, Tabanou, Borja, Ayew, Bony, Clucas, Ngog, Mesa to name a few of his signings that have all cost a club of our size a fortune, not to mention the questionable decisions he's made e.g not bringing Allen back when he had the chance, handing out long contracts to squad players who weren't playing in the first team. He stated we'd learn from mistakes which they clearly havent it's the same old story every time, we start the season in 7 days and we have signed 1 player officially for the '1st team' and if we start off bad Potter is going to get the blame for this whilst Huw is tucked up in his directors box getting away with all the sh!t.

Didn’t you see the crusade against Malky McKay he had for the danish lads signing? If Huw worked for Tan, he’d be up the road I have no doubt about that. [Post edited 30 Jul 2018 17:17]

But that wasn't the same, Tan was to all intents and purposes coming at him from a corruption angle.

When will we actually get Huw Jenkins out of the club? on 10:48 - Jul 29 by MattG | B0llocks. You were the one who added the condition that it only applied to games we were expected to win. "I would like to think that would be in context to a period of time where we are expected to win games." That's a caveat, right there. We were in the PL and losing games - he said if that continued then his position would be untenable. It continued but he remains in post. |

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/40916521 You could well be right, I know he wanted him done over racism etc, but from the article there where he says: "You know the main reason, I always say, and I have told Mehmet [Dalman, Cardiff's chairman] the same, is that we spent a lot of money there - I think it was £50m. "What did we get? We paid £10.5m for Cornelius who didn't even play 45 minutes and then the manager said he was a project. I can’t imagine him being too keen on investments like Mesa, Borja, Ayew being ended up loaned out. He’d be ruthless.

When will we actually get Huw Jenkins out of the club? on 11:16 - Jul 29 by E20Jack | Nope. Costs spiralling is a theme seen at every single football club that is promoted if they manage to survive. The longer they stay the more their outgoings become, until they can no longer function and get relegated - which is why all clubs our size do. Every single one. |
Yes costs do spiral...but so did the premier league money...massively, yet you need to manage that situation, along with the huge money we made on transfers..Siggy..lorente, to name but 2 then buying overpriced players from relegated sides...giving fringe players new 4 year contracts, and bringing in ex-players who have were clearly seen to be struggling the previous season is a shocking management of the funds we had available for a club our size, and that lies squarelyat Jenkins door... yes he did do a good job as chairman up until maybe 3 years ago, but as the cliche says...your only as good as your last game....or season in his case. Claudio Renieri done a fantastic job winning the premier league for Leicester but the season after he was sacked as relegation threatened. Jenkins said the end of 2016/17 when we just stayed up, "we won't find ourselves in this position again"..how right he was...

When will we actually get Huw Jenkins out of the club? on 17:05 - Jul 30 by E20Jack | Those were provisions. We had capital tied up in players. This allowed us the best possible chance of staying at that level at the same time, which is why we got ourselves into a position where for a while it looked like we would survive where as WBA took the approach of throwing in the towel and oreoared for relegation earlier - their performances mirrored that too, they looked doomed long before us. Seeing a relegation coming and being able to do something about it are wildly differing things. I can see a relegation for Cardiff in the next few years, Tan won’t have failed and his position untenable should they be relegated for not getting the right players in though - they are Cardiff, it’s expected. Who is to say if we would have “prepared” another way we would have had 7 long years there? His methods of preparation kept us there for an ungodly amount of time, to complain when it eventually and inevitably doesn’t work seems silly to me. |
Preparing for relegation doesn’t usually mean throwing in the towel at Christmas. Tan is the owner, he doesn’t run the football side of the club, but I agree, relegation won’t mean whoever does Jenkins’ role there has failed. If they get relegated and immediately plunge into a fire sale, selling anyone clubs want to buy and loaning out players he’s just paid £20m for, he will certainly have neglected a major part of his job.

I hate quoting the Kuntish Mail but there was a few articles like this at the time http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2813383/Cardiff-owner-Vincent- But you have a point as well from the quotes on your link. £10m for a project 😂

But we have been preparing for relegation and for a club our size that naturally involves selling players. This isn't a secret or a lack of planning, it's the cold, hard truth. We've invested quite a bit in the Under 23s and we've enough players that can still be involved on the wages they're dropping down onto. We're also on the verge of making some seemingly shrewd signings so take the hysteria away and we've done very well.

Oh of course it does. I’m not trying to pretend we should be starting the Championship with an unchanged squad. You need a bit of realism in these situations. It’s the extent of it that worries me. Bony, Ki, Mesa, Fabianski, Mawson, both Ayews, Baston and Fernandez have all either been sold/contract ran out, are being hawked about or are on loan (not sure if we’re subsidising wages). It wouldn’t surprise me if we took a few million hit on Clucas if the Burnley interest comes back. It seems a more dramatic and desperate cull than most relegated teams. And I’m not talking big teams like Villa and Newcastle, I’m talking the likes of Burnley and West Brom. Yes, we have made some exciting looking signings and I’m looking forward to a more attractive style of football next season. We have essentially just gambled on cheap potential though. We’ve got maybe Amat or VdH as a natural leader, no bite in midfield and currently only McBurnie up front. 3 fullbacks to cover both positions.

There's still time for business to be done and if we got it all done in this window then even more credit to the club. But Burnley hadn't been in the EPL as long as we have so they still had a Championship side going down. West Brom have been up and down like a Yo Yo and anyway, you can't really compare two clubs that accurately and expect them to make much sense. West Brom's squad doesn't really have a lot of value in it, does it? Or am I wrong? We've sold, or about to, Mawson for 20m, Fab for 7m, Mesa for 8m and we still have, easily, another 20m we could offload, if not more, especially in today's market. Superb job so far, keep it up.

"20m we could offload" you say, vs £60 million of debt by my latest estimation. Take a bow, Mr Jenkins.

That a stark lack of understanding of what an increase in PL money does. A bit like saying, 30 years ago you got £2 an hour minimum wage, now people are 😆£8 and are struggling, they are clearly mismanaging their money.

Not many clubs do prepare for relegation after being there for 7 years, it isn’t a usual scenario. The fire sale was the remedy to the financial side f relegation, housing that amount of money in player registrations was also probably the reason we stayed there so long. It would be foolish to explore one side without looking at the other.

When will we actually get Huw Jenkins out of the club? on 19:04 - Jul 29 by Shaky | And just to add a bit more detail, although WBA had £10 million more in revenue they had £79million in total wage & NI costs compared to Swansea's £98.7 million. In other words £20million less in wage costs, contributing to them making an operating profit of £25.7m vs a loss for Swansea of 23 million. Like Swansea they also made some profit on player sales, albeit without being anywhere near as reliant on it, contributing to pre-tax profits of £39.8m vs £13.4m for Swansea. |
So with all that posturing and promoting of West Brom I read today... "A £40 million surplus in the bank last summer was splashed on new players who, by and large, failed to justify their sizeable transfer fees as Albion suffered relegation. Mark Jenkins revealed earlier this year the Baggies had taken out an overdraft facility for the first time in over a decade" You didn't mention that in your forensic analysis 😂

His recent record includes .. - Appointed 6 managers in last 3 seasons, at huge cost and disruption. - Costs increased out of control to make club in poor financial position despite £700m in PL years. - Loss /cost of £60m+ just on Bony, Andre, Baston and Clucas. - Lost trust of most fans and Trust members.

I think you'll both find Jenkins has been given more clout, not less, in this window, hence us hiring Potter in the first place and going back to the Swansea way. .....not the American way of the last couple of seasons.

Remember when Potter was hired by the Americans it was at the time that the club stated it was also going to appoint a technical manager. That was superseded with Potter bringing a head of recruitment with him and recruitment policy being changed from the previous process.
