simmo400 added 20:38 - Jan 2 Saints are a poor team. Don't know how we beat Arsenal must have been a fluke. We are poor all over the pitch. RK leaving out Mane was a joke. We need are best players on the pitch and dropping him was like giving them a goal start. RK punished the fans no one else. Wanyama is playing like he has left already he best followed by 2 games of his worst. Bringing on Ramiriz is a joke. Bertrand could not cross the ball if he was still there. I'm not going to scream relegation because the worst teams will finish there. If where there we deserve it. IWOZTHERE added 00:24 - Jan 3 My normal 'stream was inop. (luckily) so I've got no opinion on the performance except to say I'm not surprised by any of it ! Overall, It's sad when a bunch of 'mates' disbands and it develops into this mess. Fair play Nick, you'll try to be calm and put a positive spin on this, but let's address the problems instead of going into denial. DPeps added 00:46 - Jan 3 This is a little bit concerning now. Our good performances this season have been few and far between, and if (or should that be 'when'?) we are in a relegation fight I frankly don't have the confidence that our team will be up to the challenge. Supposedly good sides have gone down before, and fans and the club need to accept that relegation is a possibility if we don't sort our sh*t out soon! I'm aware that I'm perhaps being negative but I've seen virtually nothing so far this season to justify being positive about things. BoondockSaint added 02:12 - Jan 3 Same old, same old. Look at the teams that are beating us: they work all game long, and score when they get the chance. We are just happy to have a knock-about in the park. Show Vic the door, his "head is at Arsenal" already. I used to say Shane Long in front of goal was a coin toss: fifty-fifty chance of him scoring-now it is more like a Dungeons & Dragons polyhedral dice toss! Yep, fine Mane (or others who break rules) but don't cut off your nose to spite your face. We can't get a proper read on Gaston until he starts a few games-throwing him on with a few minutes is not fair-if Yoshi can get game after game no matter what, why not Gaston? corkcitysaint added 09:35 - Jan 3 Another poor, shoddy performance. We just don't seem to take a game by the scruff of the neck and fight. Both teams had great chances, maybe Norwich best of all in the first half. Long with a great chance fluffed it. These are the opportunities, away from home, when we are struggling make a massive difference. At the moment, I'm taking on a glass half empty approach. There's no point in talking about Europa League position when we can't beat the "weaker" teams around us. We are playing like a relegation side. As for Mane, I agree with RK that he should be dropped if that is the rules of the club. As soon as a player shown indiscipline you have to nip it in the bud or it will filter through to the rest of the players and make the management look weak. Yes, it may affect the overall performance of the team and let the fans down but it is the player who is to blame, not the manager. The player disrespects his team mates, cub and fans. Is it a case of trying to stir up trouble to get a transfer? Wouldn't surprise me. I fear the defeat will be blamed or over shadowed by the sending off of Wanyama but in truth, it goes deeper than that. I fear the spirit in team and the playing for each other is gone this season and you can't buy that in the transfer window. SaintGeorge added 10:09 - Jan 3 aceofthebase added 10:20 - Jan 3 corkcitysaint there is no dispute that Mane is in the wrong and was in its way disrespectful to the club but I cannot agree with the punishment. There are many other options to choose from eg financial, extra training period even writing a thousand lines but to punish the club andsupporters is plainly wrong. Punish the whole team for him being late with extra trainng and I would suggest that the whole team would ensure that everyone turned up next time. aceofthebase added 10:24 - Jan 3 incidentally sitting on his backside for the majority of the game is not what I would call punishment. Put your feet up lad and have a rest. aceofthebase added 10:38 - Jan 3 incidentally sitting on his backside for the majority of the game is not what I would call punishment. Put your feet up lad and have a rest. PezzaSaint added 13:41 - Jan 3 I feel that our transfer policy of the last two seasons is coming home to roost! Both Wanyama and Mane have been stupid for different reasons, but it smacks of them both wanting to be elsewhere? They must sit at home and think to themselves 'other players have been allowed to leave, there surely must be a chance for me to!' And this thought process must affect their motivation. Saints have got a reputation of selling the Crown Jewels and this policy must make players feel that the grass could be greener on the other side? Players don't live in a bubble, they read sports media of which there is loads these days. Added to this our signings last summer haven't been good enough. Last season's achievements are seeming all the more fantastic at the moment. A player signing this month that turns out to be a bonus could turn things in our favour again.
