Ayew signing imminent ? 18:03 - Jan 28 with 64289 views | icecoldjack | Amazing how Carlos seems to have a similar taste in players to our DOF . Could just be rumour of course but there are rumblings that the Ayew deal is close to completion . If he signed where does Carlos play him ? I'd also like to know how he fits Bony,Ayew,Tammy and Sanches into the team or who gets left out . IMO if we signed Ayew it wouldn't be so bad as long as it's a loan deal. Thoughts ?

Does that include Routledge and Naughton?

It doesn't alter the fact Routledge is absolutely appalling ,as many point out This is the place for opinion,or should be. It's ok to vent spleen on here and dis players but when playing I'm all for encouraging them Ok

I agree there Perch. I've always been a big fan of Routs, and we've had plenty of disagreement's over him, but it's just opinions and nothing else. Personally i'm of the view that it's not Wayne that's to blame but the club for not producing an adequate replacement while he comes to the end of his career and loses a yard of pace he should be phased out. He's been a great servant for me, though his powers are clearly on the wane now .

I love it when people put the fact that Routledge can’t control the ball, cant cross, cant shoot, cant use his left, cant head etc down to the fact he’s lost a yard of pace.

Love it all you want, it's quite frankly crazy to accuse him of not being able to do all those things, the bloke is done as a starter for us but for £1,5m he will go down as one of our best signings during our prem league era. He was so bad that every single manager played him as first choice .

Routledge is rightly getting a bit of stick now but he's been a very good performer for us previously. Regularly picked by all the managers including Laudrup and Rodgers he's an intelligent hard working committed player who used his pace to good effect especially to get away from defenders over a 10-20 yard burst. Sorry to say that anyone who hasn't been able to recognise his qualities must be totally clueless. Just take a look at his carter appaearances mainly in the Premier League, is it almost 500 games now? Must be crap to play that much. That said, he's virtually finished at this level now as that extra yard of pace made him the player he was.

Derailers just fook off and finger your sister Routledge has been with us so long as he was given a four year extension .incredible really and no other club would have given him such a deal . that s why he s still with us. Collecting big money with no hope of starting unless we have a manager who is sick in the head . I don't blame Routledge at all. If he s on 25 k per week, he just actually working for ,what 15 yrs per week ? But he s seen as a great servant . Nah, Curtis, great servant . Britton even greater servant I d actually say fabianski is a great servant Anyway ,servants ,apart from Warwick ,who d have em

How many games did he start under Rodgers again? I first season in the prem with our weakest squad and he hardly played any minutes. Had a decent spell under laudrup scoring about 2 goals and creating probably 2 more. Been abysmal ever since. There’s probably a reason he had 9 clubs by 25. I do agree however it’s not his fault he’s still here and feeling no bad feelings towards him as a person, just baffles me the way people talk about him as if he was once a top player. Just look at his goals and assists throughout his career and you’ll see he hasn’t been a very good winger. Yet Andre Ayew scored more in a season than Routledge probably had in his 7 years here and he can’t do a thing right. [Post edited 1 Feb 2018 17:25]

He made 28PL appearances under Rodgers, I don’t know how many starts and he scored 9 goals for us during Laudrup’s 18 months here.

We all know Rodgers was never dropping his love child Sinclair for Routs and if you remeber the games he did play he looked far better at that level than scotty. Routs found a home here and for the most part was integral to us staying here, you can look at his lack of goals but why did every manager pick him ? I'd rather trust the judgement of Laudrup,Monk,FG,Bradley and Clement truth be told. No doubt he's had his best days, but let's not pretend he was abysmal for us when he wasn't . If he gets offered a 4 yr deal then why not sign it ? we are too sentimental at the Swans sometimes but the reason why Routs is really still here is down to our chairman being too tight to buy a proper replacement, can't blame routs for that mun!

There's always somebody using facts to cloud the issue. Under Laudrup, Routledge was excellent and the only reason he didn't feature much under Rodgers was because Rodgers would never drop or sub Sinclair. As soon as Sinclair went, Routledge became more or less a permanent fixture in arguably our best ever team. He's never been our best player but I always enjoyed watching him during the Laudrup era.

He scored 2 before half time in THAT game against West Brom. He flourished under Laudrup and played the best football of his career.

Sinclair scored more that first season than routledge ever has in a season since. I said about 2 because that’s what he’s averaged per season since being here. If he did score 9 in a season, which I doubt very much, then the 7 goals scored in the other 6/7 seasons he’s been here says it all. You say he was continuously picked by managers but if it wasnt for the poor recruitment then he certainly wouldn’t have been. The like of Hernandez, Lemah, Montero, both ayews, barrow etc, have all been brought in to improve the wings but buying cheap sh*t meant they were no better. As I’ve said, nothing against him personally but the fact is apart from the spell under laudrup he’s been awful.

Probably a few, but would routledge have scored those pens? He’d struggle to reach the goal line with the outside of his foot. Before you suggest he’s a better player than Sinclair, ask yourself if routledge had gone to Scotland, would he be capable of winning the SFA player of the year along with Celtic’s player of year and players player. I’m no Sinclair fan but hes was 5 times the winger routledge

Totally different players fella, it's not that scotty is 5 times the player just that he suits being a big fish in a small pond , one has touch and technique and the other was a flat track bully and runner that is made for the big team in Scotland, we all knew scotty would tear them a new one up there, i bet Routs would score plenty too in his pomp. I thought Scotty was awesome for us, he should have stayed and been incredible under Laudrup but at the top level Routs has played a higher standard for longer and there is a reason for that, Sinclair while awesome couldn't trap a bag of cement . Totally different types of player .
