Brilliant display. What stood out the most was how well we defended, especially at set pieces when that 'orrible elbower of doom Davies came on.

That we didn't miss Allen illustrated the effectiveness of yet another Hill tactical masterstroke as he employed the in-vogue midfield diamond.

Done and Henderson scared them to death with their runs, even from long balls forward and goal kicks when Henderson stood 20 yards behind their back four and ran back past their retreating defenders. Wiseman was all over the place by the end, he didn't want the ball coming anywhere near him.

Logan's easily up there with Heaton and Hahnemann as the safest keeper we've ever had. Was almost confident that he'd save that penalty (that and the strange booking for O'Connell were the only errors by a ref who managed the game really well). We can't afford to keep Logan at this level, but that's at this level....

It is no coincidence that we have lost our two matches to these type of bread and butter teams who know that they are playing better teams so play to their strengths. In the case of Rochdale it is hoof ball but if it works, so what as we just couldn't cope with it. Bang it upfield and run the channels and pressure the opposition. That said Rochdale were basically gifted all three goals. How the heck Jones managed to let the first one in, goodness knows and the second was appalling defending. The third another one Jones should have had but he wasn't helped by his defenders. Hopefully we will learn because there will be other teams lifted by the fact PNE are in town. Buchanan the best of a bad bunch on a trip to forget.

Dont know why players like that do it, that Campbell Ryce fella for Sheff Utd tore us to bits but would have done far more damage had he stopped diving all the time, Garner today was just like a spoilt child everytime something didnt go his way, quite laughably stroppy

I liked the Garner,Garner whats the score, Garner what's the score. Chant from the Pearl Street.

Post match interview Keith insisting that Done and Henderson are not strikers but midfield players and that the victory was not lucky but deserved.

Neither are forwards, but in doing so, they are the best forward pairing I've ever seen.

I could wax lyrical about Hendo all night. For me, I don't think in 30 years plus watching the club I've seen a better player.

The double turn when Hery got clattered was worth the entrance fee alone, the boy had a blinder today, Dawson was an absolute machine today but don't let whitey know as he's shit really

Fully agree, but I think Hilly is still not totally convinced. At the end of the DP interview, asked about the Allen injury, "...Bastien came in and he has got to keep himself keen, he has to keep himself ready, fit and he did well, up to a degree." I'm wondering if he was thinking what might have been if Bastien had lost the ball in that bit of magic and play had been transferred into our area instead of theirs.

That we've scored so many goals this season (admittedly most away from home when we can play on the counter attack) without having what you could term a goalscorer of any height leading the front line in the centre of the pitch is one of the most interesting aspects of the season so far for me

The PNE defence today (like most we've come up against who have two big central defenders) I suspect found it difficult not having anybody to man mark. As the game went on they seemed to get more disorganised by the minute

The pace, movement and workrate of Matty Done and Hendo up front really is brilliant

That we could beat such a good side as PNE without Peter Vincenti and Jamie Allen in the side shows what a fantastic squad Hilly has now built up

That bit of skill earned us the free kick that led to our first goal. Prior to that Hery was caught giving the ball away and left Bennett exposed a couple of times, he had a sticky five minutes but then responded well.

He is a great player to watch and when he gets the donkey work side of his game in order he will become and excellent player. I thought Lund played really well at the base of the diamond. Lots of excellent performances today, especially Tanser and both centre backs.

The amount of time Garner spent on the floor today was embarrassing.

Lovely result today, and what a completely professional performance by Rochdale. PNE have come here as a very capable and competent team on form, but thought they'd just turn up and win. Garner, for all his past achievements looked like a Balotelli wannabe - talented but with the attitude of a ponce, wingeing and whining , who sulked his way through a game he did nothing in. Apart from a penalty dive, which he eventually missed thanks to the brilliant Conrad Logan. Hilarious :D What a big tart. Disappointing how PNE tried to claim every throw in, offside, foul etc etc they never had a hope in hell of getting like they thought they were Fergies United. Embarassing.

As for The Dale - might just have to steal the buckets WOW WOW WOW. Nobody had an off day, all the players were superb. Dawson would have got MOM for me but they ALL deserved the award as Team Rochdale. Hilly has got some proper magic going on at RAFC. Enjoy.

Absolutely brilliant day to be a Dale fan. Great team performance and a massively entertaining match.

Preston did exactly what we needed. Played an open attacking game, which allowed us to counter at pace and find gaps in their defence. If we can work out how to break down stubborn teams who come to Spotland and park the bus, we will get a LOT of points this season.

January will be absolutely pivotal for us. Retain O'Connell, Dawson and Logan and the unthinkable May be possible.

Incredibly exciting times.

Ashley Eastham has gone totally unsung this season but today I thought he was outstanding. A beast of a presence, backed up by the equally ferocious Conrad Logan. What a penalty save. 3 out of 3.

Poll: What is it to be then?

Exciting times. Nevertheless old habits die hard so whilst smiling from ear to ear at Dale's performances under KH, I am also a little relieved that we are halfway to avoiding relegation when only a third of the way through this season.

Also I am aware that 3 key players (Logan, O'Connell and Dawson) may not be with us after January which could make for a slightly more nervous 2015. Here's hoping they want and are able to stay for a longer period.

Does anyone know of the eligibility of our loan players with regard to the FA Cup next week?

Hilly is no doubt well aware how the team could suffer if any of Logan, O'Connell and Dawson leave in January and will already be making plans for such a situation

I'm sure all three players would like to stay but, as well as money, it's all down to their respective clubs and whether they will let them stay

listening to Radio Lancs a caller was saying that, just like Fleetwood last week, we raised our game because the mighty PNE were in town. Mmm. Someone not quite up to speed with the reality of our game.
Still, let's keep under the radar as long possible and hope other "mighty" teams have the same attitude. Bring 'em on.

From the PNE forum

We are a very gifted side with some genuine quality players. But they forgot to work hard today. They seemed a bit 'big time' in their attitude (not helped by wearing their pink (!) and fluorescent lime green boots) and when Rochdale mixed it appeared to take offence that they should have the temerity to do so. Maybe a defeat won't be too bad in reminding them we have to match the effort and commitment of the opposition first and then win through superior ability. Bad day and we move on. Well played Rochdale.

Well that was not good but we were never going to win every game between now and the end of the season nor even not lose, but it was obviously disappointing for this little run we have been enjoying to come to an end in front of a large contingent of our fans. Things like this usually happen at grim mid-week matches against the likes of Gillingham or Crawley. My report from the game says that we were simply outplayed by a young, fit, fast team playing a high-tempo pressing game. That doesn't surprise me. From what I saw at Gillingham we like to keep possession, play it around, slow things down and then try a quick break but if we were being constantly hassled then it is no surprise this is what happened.

Seeing as PNE won their last 8 games, did those teams not raise their game "because the mighty PNE were in town" ? Diluted.

Logan said upstairs after the match, that Leicester gave him clearance to play in the FA Cup 2 weeks ago.

Augurs well.

I think Preston are probably bigging themselves up a little too early in the season - they had indeed won their last 8 matches before today, but not one was against a "Top 10" team. They've come up against a Top 10 team today and come unstuck.

That's just an ignorant and sadly blinkered view of what happened. Preston were well beaten by a better team. They can dress it up how they like, but the reality is we were 3 goals better and it showed.

Our lack of wins against the top sides often came up last season, but it's worth noting that against teams in L1's current top five, we have two wins and a draw v Bristol C.

Dawson won't leave in January, he's loving his football at the moment. Long term? 12 month contract! IF he could get a couple of seasons on championship wages, why not?
Don't wanna say, but what if? Can a club like ours pay championship wages if we get there? Surely clubs are watching players like Hendo that can pay more

I've never said he's shit. I've said he was shit (in the main) as a Barnsley player, in the Championship. But I'm not at all suggesting he couldn't do a job at this level. History says he can, and I'm happy that he's making you happy.

As I said t'other day, I'm only giving opinions on what I've seen.

Just as it's my opinion that Wiseman was shit for us because he couldn't defend, which as a defender, is a bit of an issue.
