Corona Virus on 14:54 - May 13 by Ace_Jack | Not that PMQs is massively relevant to the discourse of the country as a whole, it is nice to have an opposition team that is capable of setting a political trap and following it up with some sustained pressure. He wasn't my choice for leader but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed. For those out of the loop, it looks like Mr Johnson might've told a fib at the dispatch box today which is very bad form.

Kier Starmer is infinitely better than Corbyn Soul destroying still to think we had that bladder in charge of the opposition in such crucial times It’s a crying shame

Corona Virus on 22:19 - May 13 by rockj | I keep going back to my point When will we “all” go back to work? This virus could be with us for years People can’t sit on their arse on furlough forever, we will have 5m unemployed When guys when? |
If the virus is with us for years with no effective vaccine then many people won't go back to jobs, because the jobs will no longer exist. Society will have to reorganise itself around the reality that everyone travelling to work every day kills people. Whole industries (like hospitality, and travel) will close because it's not safe to operate and even when they do open customers won't want to risk it in high enough numbers to turn a profit. There is a very real possibility that things won't go back to exactly how they were before. We'll have a new normal where we take care of 5m unemployed people whose old jobs might not contribute any value any more, but are still valuable people. There's more to life than work, after all. The irony is that the Corbynistas are as equally responsible for this governments massive majority as those that voted for them. [Post edited 14 May 2020 11:47]

Excellent, good for you owning it Although Isn’t Claire Ainsley from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation his director of policy? She is very into the categorisations of the Great British Class Survey, In fact uses them in her work Anyway from the definitions in that, Keir comes into the upper echelons of the top 6%, the Elite. He should own it, Daft to classify himself at 57? (ooh spooky - average age of the Elite) on the basis of his parents jobs. His job, wealth, property, sphere of contacts... fit him in that category to a T. –––––- Elite Percentage of population - 6% Average age - 57 This is the wealthiest and most privileged group in the UK: They are the UK's biggest earners They score highest for social, cultural and economic factors Many went to private school and elite universities - 24% of people in this group were privately educated, far more than in any other class group This class is most likely to be found in London and the home counties This group is exclusive and very hard to join, most come from very privileged backgrounds 97% of people in this group own their own home

It’s not enough to just delete tweets and hope it goes away. Dories, as a Minister, need to resign. Nothing else is acceptable. They all need to publicly state that the video was doctored, was a libel against Starmer and donate money to a women’s safety charity of his choice. It’s an absolute scandal that parliamentarians are like this.

They’re all crapping themselves. I’m pretty sure one of the reasons Rees Mogg wants parliament back is to give Johnson his braying supporters again. Too many occasions like yesterday otherwise.

Actually the only bit of this I’m thankful for is that Dorries doesn’t appear to be busy on the health side of things. Keeping her far away from anything that affects us seems a sensible plan.

Could he get them into court? Serious question. I don't know what the law is in situations like this, but they shouldn't be allowed to lie with impunity, they need to be called out.
