From the BBC stats:-

80'

Conrad Logan (Rochdale) wins a free kick in the attacking half.

Is Hilly messing around with formations again?

With FRMSE being on the Chesterfield staff, and FRMSE having seen so much of Rochdale, and FRMSE having provided so much "expert" analysis on Dale for Radio Manc, one could only expect his knowledge of us to be of benefit to The Spirites. Putting FRMSE in a dugout is the football equivalent leaving your nan with Harold Shipman.

scunthorpes next three games, Bradford, Millwall and Bolton, add to that Millwall playing Sheff U. Could be a lot of movement in the next week to 10 days.

Crucial game at wombles in midweek

Hopefully Bunney going off won't see him miss more games. We've also got to find a way of getting McGahey back at CH because the current duo remain all over the place.

Going forward we've got to capitalise on our obvious threat because the opposition look frightened, whoever they are. It's only our own decision making that means we aren't scoring more.

Agree with 442, we're frightening every opposition we come up against with our attacking play but we still look very, very susceptible at the back.

The first half today was one of those dreamy performances where you just have to stop and enjoy the football on show. Some of it was marvellous and Chesterfield looked absolutely devoid of any hope or spirit. Their poor left back will be having nightmares about NML for the rest of his life! I felt a bit sorry for their fans as from the moment the game kicked off their team looked like they wanted the full time whistle.

However, the second half was different - whether we became too comfortable or Chesterfield suddenly realised they were being employed as football players, all of a suddden they had a bit of impetus. The goal was swerving all over the place and Logan was beaten. Our central defence continued to look shaky and in the end Chesterfield had more than enough chances to snatch a point.

Ultimately a deserved win for the Dale though. After our complete inability to hold on to a lead over the past couple of months I'm really proud of the mental strength displayed today, especially after fighting back from 2-0 down on Tuesday.

Bring on the next game, they're all full of excitement at the moment!

Keane excellent in front of back four. Dale played really well first half and used width of pitch to great effect. Allen, Camps, Hendo, NML all played well going forward. McGahey and Bunney both played well as attacking wingback. Chesterfield regrouped second half and played it longer bypassing Allen and Camps but despite the early goal and one or two heart in mouth moments (header against bar, good stop from Logan) we fully deserved three points. Keeps the season going nicely.

Chesterfield looked like a team certain of their own relegation, from the first minute.

NML was unplayable on the right, on the left he (and Bunney) struggled up against Kakay who looked completely out of place (as in, good)

I must be demanding, I wanted us to score more in the second half, so dominant was our first half performance.

Vincenti offside from a goal kick was strange
Their lad getting uppity with Rafferty and kicking him one the floor was just stupid, but when you're down, stupid is as stupid does.

I don't know what they put in that Herbalife stuff but Hendo really must be super fit to run as much as he does.

First goal, lovely through ball by Keano, Hendo is getting his lobs on target of late
Second goal a cracking half volley
Third goal, no idea, but my pie was nice.

Can we please please please beat that midweek away record of not winning for something like two years on Tuesday please.

Cracking 3 points.

The Vincenti offside was from a free kick, Lama. It just happened to have been taken by Logan in the box.

After a fantastic win it's a shame to mention any negatives but I will do anyway. Vincenti, for all that he comes across as a gentleman off the pitch, can be a bit of a turd on it. He's always had a petulant side to his game but it's showing its face more often lately. When their man got sent off I don't know what possessed him to follow him the whole width of the pitch sniping in his ear. He'll get punished for it one of these days and it'll be to our detriment. I like Vincenti but I'd like him more sans this side of his game.

No pie for me..... so third goal well worked team passing around edge of box Camps and NML I think before Allen making space for himself and slotting in far corner. My wife (not a regular attender) asked if Jamie has stopped growing yet....last two away games I've seen at Scunny and here he's been excellent and agree re Hendo's energy levels.

Great first half performance, second was a little flat.

Keith Keane played excellently as a cdm, if we can sign someone to play CB instead of him i'd be happy to see him there next season.

Ive said it for the last 2 games and i'm saying it again. McNulty is a liability. Why is he so slow in possession? Thankfully we were playing a rather turd team so it didnt hurt us.. much rather McGahey be moved inside and start raff instead..

Hope Bunney was tired rather than injured. Stunned he even played, he looked lathergic early on in the game..

Leader of the little gang of immature cretins.

First time here so apologies if it goes wobbly. My two penn'orth anyway.

Ex-Birch Hill Hospital, taking the afternoon off school in Manchester to watch the Monday afternoon FA Cup match in 1971 against 1st Division Coventry and now living near Sherwood Forest allowed a relatively short trip today.

In the first half, Chesterfield played 3-3-4 which was ruthlessly exploited by NML and Joe Bunney who (eventually) enjoyed massive dominance threading through midfield between wings. It took them 15 minutes to realise just how much space they had.

Chesterfield's squad of 26 apparently has 19 whose contracts expire at the end of this season so they should have been playing for their places in next season's team. The first half didn't reflect this and they were rightly booed off by the home support.

They probably - and rightly - got a hairdryer at the interval and came out 2 mins before Dale. They played 4-2-4 and showed their mettle by getting a corner within the 1st minute of the restart.

If they'd started with that formation and resolve, who knows how it would have turned out ? Anyway, the hill (Hill) was too big to climb and Dale had a 10-min spell of immense pressure with free kick after corner repeated.

The Spireite supporters I talked with seemed resigned to League 2 next season.

Dale clearly deserved their win and Joe Bunney's injury didn't appear too serious. I think he was playing safe by taking himself off.

P.S. I found a terrific chippy (North Sea Fish Bar) on the Sheffield Road - FC+P for £3.50.

I spotted the offside from the free-kick too, Shun, although remarkably, Logan seemed to forget he'd taken a free-kick and thought it had been a goal-kick!

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Agree regarding McNulty. I've not been for a while and it was like he was playing in slow motion. He looked so lethargic.

Possession with progression.

I never call our players but i do understand the Casual Jim criticism.

Thought first half he was 100% safety first, the only thing slowing our wave after wave of attack was his passes back to the keeper. Understandable with his recent cock-ups.

Second half he was a bit more ponderous, one of our fans went awesomely mental around the 80th mins when he dwardled somewhat. I get where he was coming from.

If his gaffs were ignored (hard to do of late) he is a good defender.
