Match thread: Chesterfield (A) on 10:04 - Mar 26 with 1549 views | ColDale | I didn't particularly enjoy the game, mainly due to the ineptitude of Chesterfield. They reminded me so much of us during our relegation season where we almost made "going down with a whimper" the new club motto. It was clear after the first five minutes that it was going to be a no contest, and we've had so many fantastic battles recently, it had the eyre of a preseason game. And I genuinely think this had a knock on effect with our players as I felt (perhaps rather harshly) we played within ourselves. I wanted us in the second half to go for the kill and get the sort of scoreline that we'd be talking about for years to come. Maybe the battles that lie ahead are the priority rather than one off hammerings.

No I meant are you able to get DAB coverage of ANY radio station, and is there any problem in reception of any TV service where you live?

Match thread: Chesterfield (A) on 23:42 - Mar 25 by Daley_Lama | I never call our players but i do understand the Casual Jim criticism. Thought first half he was 100% safety first, the only thing slowing our wave after wave of attack was his passes back to the keeper. Understandable with his recent cock-ups. Second half he was a bit more ponderous, one of our fans went awesomely mental around the 80th mins when he dwardled somewhat. I get where he was coming from. If his gaffs were ignored (hard to do of late) he is a good defender. |
When he has to defend then he normally does a decent enough job. He kept Ebanks Blake quiet all game without ever being dragged out of position or looking uncomfortable. It's when he has possession of the ball when the problems start. Other than that. A decent enough performance. Keith Keane was outstanding in the midfield. A real destroyer. If we can get a centre half or two in the summer, along with a solid goal keeper, then I don't see a reason why we can't be in and around the playoffs.
| Possession with progression. |

To be fair we've been around the play-offs with Lancashire, McNulty and Canavan regularly involved for two seasons. McNulty has looked best when alongside a calming influence like Keane, but he should only be a stop-gap at CH now. It's very surprising we haven't addressed the real issue.

I find it tough to criticise players when they are trying their best. Jim just looks completely uncomfortable in possession though - not normally a problem with a Dale player under Keith. The totally frustrating thing for me is he's capable of playing really good balls forward, but something (confidence) is preventing him from doing that and instead he's putting either the keeper or another defender under pressure with either a square ball of a back pass. Maybe he's under orders - if not I'm not sure what it will take to stop him "playing scared". I just hope he finds it. On a more positive note, the Callum strike was just wonderful. Maybe not the best goal technically from yesterday, but one of those great moments when boot and ball come together perfectly and you could almost hear the ping from the sweet spot. Wonderful.

Disagree personally. Never been inspired by McNulty at centre half.. Theres no excuse for being so ponderous on the ball, id rather him boot it out and try and battle for it in the middle than put other players under pressure or lose it himself. Canavan for all his faults at least knows his limits and tends for a more safety first style of defending..

Was really meaning when he had time on the ball, which he does often. But agree, there are some times when a good clearance is called for and he doesn't. One moment on Saturday - Canavan looked across at him and was about to pass it square then pulled out to pass back to Logan and cut out the middle man.
