What's your favourite stand up? I'm looking for any recommendations to watch on tinterweb whilst exceedingly high. Bill Hicks, Jim Jefferies, Marc Maron is my normal preference but much like music this shit is always better when recommended.
Come on you R's!!

Rosie Jones.
That’s her.I heard her tell one gag about women with cerebral palsy make the best lesbians as they’re good at fingering.I’m not sure I could watch more than a couple of minutes of her shows. Fair play to her for getting up there, but I just don’t find her funny at all.

Best I've seen live are Billy Connolly and Jimmy Carr. Both absolutely superb but with very different styles. Was in pain from laughing at Carr's show and am seeing him again in a couple of months.
Also love Mark Watson who I've seen several times. Enjoyed Kevin Bridges too.
Daniel Kitson was also very good, seen him a few times back in the day.

Seen Stewart Lee on many occasions - an absolute genius. If you can see him at the Leicester Square theatre all the better, great size and decent selection of beers for a theatre.
Mickey Flanagan also, very different to Lee but painfully funny.
Geoff Norcott not too bad either.

Get out there and find some gems whose names you probably won’t remember.
Headliners in the George IV, Chiswick, have some pretty decent acts on Friday and Saturday nights. Shows are fairly reasonably priced, although not so the beers (£7.50 for a Siren on Saturday!)
Top Secret in Covent Garden is also good.
As for names, think my faves have all been mentioned; Louis CK, Ricky Gervais, James Acaster, Jim Jeffries, Eddie Murphy, Lee Evans, Billy Connolly, Dave Allen etc
For me, Carlin, Prior, and Hicks are in a league of their own.
For something a little bit more abstract; Bobby Davro. Hallucinogenic' drugs may help drugs may help:

The late great Sam Kinison.
Some of his stuff is amazing.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

I too am a fan of Stewart Lee live. Not so keen on his written work though.
I'll mention Milton Jones as I knew him well before he became famous. We used to organise a monthly Jazz and comedy night together in Richmond called the Back Door in the late 80s. He's so much better live than on radio, but was pretty good on Mock the Week.

When I've seen Milton Jones on Mock the Week, I've thought his humour is incredibly clever.
He is performing at Headliners this weekend.

I'm lucky enough to have seen Alexei Sayle a couple of times live, including on his comeback tour a couple of years ago, absolute genius. His live album Cak is just wonderful. Enjoy Stewart Lee a lot too.

Bernard Manning. The guv’nor of ALL stand up comedians. No contest.
I saw Jim Davidson last month up here in Suffolk, but he was just ranting and raving about everything, and I don’t think he told 1 joke.A bitter and twisted man I thought.

For the purpose of the OP's exercise, I highly recommend watching Robin Williams, An Evening at the Met. You can watch it free online. No matter how many times I have seen it, it never fails to make me laugh.

Billy Connolly was brilliant back in his prime,as was Micky Flanaghan. One that I can’t stand though is the woman with cerebral palsy.I think most people would boo her off stage if it wasn’t for her disability.
As someone who has a a condition similar to cerebral palsy I completely agree. There are plenty of very witty comedians with disabiities and she's not one of them.

We are blessed with many many great stand ups in this country Crack Comedy club Kingston is excellent little venue. anyway go support our own Seann Walsh. His YouTube special about "the kiss" that ruined his life is brilliant.
Agree with others Stewart Lee who I thought I would hate is probably the best his routine on Ricky Gervais not being able to say anything is priceless
