The whole situation is a joke.

This is the greatest season there could ever be for Welsh football to start growing. The FAW should really start capitalizing on the fact that Wales has two major teams in the premier league and get everyone together to sort out the WPL. Make it into a league which people can be proud of.
as for the national team? why play top players? Give the national team positions to players in the WPL. why not? we may get thumped 8-0, but who cares, because we wont qualify for anything as it stands anyway.
time to shake things up.

So if Wales qualified for a tournament, the ones that 'don't care about Wales', you wouldn't be bothered? Is that it? Absolute rubbish. We are not going to qualify any time soon but so what? If we can finish 3rd or 4th in this group then we'll have done well considering we were placed as bottom seeds initially.
We could beat Serbia on Tuesday and all would be fine again. That's going to be tough enough as it is but now Ash isn't playing it's going to be a lot more difficult. On paper, we have an excellent choice of midfielders and half a defence. Not much up front and an average Goalkeeper. We aren't going to be pulling up trees.
Coleman is trying to get us playing more like the Swans. It's a work in progress. People need to stop moaning about it and just support the team. The Cardiff lot, no matter what they say, are complaining more than usual because he's a Jack and so is Hartson. They moan enough about 'An Englishman captaining Wales'. Ash has been a damn site more committed to Wales than a lot of other Welsh players, again, that's just them lot moaning because he's a Jack. Anyway, I digress...
Bottom line is, it's a work in progress. If we can get a good playing style going, similar to the Swans, then we may become harder to beat and it could work in our favour. I noticed Barry Horne comment in the first half, after a lot of passing around the midfield at at the back he said "for all Wales' possession, this is the first time they've come out of their half". He's a dinosaur and he just doesn't get it. We need to start playing that way to have a chance of competing. We don't have a team of outstanding individuals so we need another angle. It didn't happen overnight at the SCFC either, it took time. But look at where we are now. I think giving Coleman a new contract is a good idea. That's just my opinion. |  |

That's fair enough and I can respect your (and others) views on CC and JH but I honestly don't see how a different manager would improve us. We don't have a lot of games to get things right, the squad is constantly disrupted by injuries and players pulling out. This then means we don't have our best side out.
I stuck up for Speed in exactly the same way I'm doing for Coleman. A lot of people moaned about Speed at first but it took him time to get things going and, crucially, to get a full team out. We don't have a good squad. We do have an above average starting 11 though, in my opinion. Including one world-class player.
Maybe the players don't have the respect for Coleman as they did Speed. I don't know. Maybe if we had Fergie in charge they'd all want to play for him? Again, no idea. But in all seriousness, who wants the Wales job? Especially after Speed. Coleman can't win. A long-term contract should give us more stability and if there is a question about players not wanting to play for him then at least now they will realise he's in it for the long haul and will just got on with it.
England were missing Rooney and Sturridge and everyone starts panicking that they won't win their next few games without them. They bring in Welbeck and Lambert FFS! More than enough quality there. We had to play Bellamy up front on his own then bring on Vokes! We just don't have the squad. There's no use moaning about it. | |

for me I think we should have plumped for lagerback out just left the set up speed left us.

However the Welsh FA doesn't seem to think it's important to hire a manager that can produce results. Apparently it's more important to them that the manager is Welsh and doesn't make waves. So Wales will probably not qualify for tournaments for the foreseeable future.
It's not much better for Denmark at the moment. It's as bad as it has been for 30 years. However I'd say Denmark have a slightly better shot at qualifying since at least the manager has played in the Euro and World Cup himself and has produced results as a manager. [Post edited 9 Sep 2013 7:52]
