Burnley and yesterday 22:39 - Feb 9 with 1578 views | A1079 | I have supported Saints since being a school boy and attended to games to various degrees for almost 50 years. This weekend I travelled the 240 miles down south and just got back this evening after seeing family as well. I can safely say that yesterday's game is probably my final one for this season. There is no way that I am investing any more money into the club with what remains of this season. May be it is just me, but yesterday almost highlighted the abject state of our club, the team, the players as individuals. Walking to the game I cannot recall an FA Cup game on a Saturday afternoon where there was no atmosphere, no sense of interest or appeal in the city or to the supporters and as it so proved with a crowd of around 15k. The game itself was fairly mundane though both sides did engineer some chances with little real cutting edge. What was the defining moment though was the Burnley goal - not that they scored a scrappy one to win it - that almost seems to be a given when we play Burnley - but the lack of response and the attitude of our players - you would think with minutes to go and 1-0 down in a cup game they would show some effort, desire and passion - but no, not a scrap of it. With 3 minutes on the clock they were pointlessly passing it around the back with no sense of urgency to move it or thrust the ball forward. The moment Burnley scored they visibly gave up - all of them! In all my time of supporting and watching Saints I have never seen such an abject group of players to wear our shirt and carry our badge. I am not convinced by Juric any more than I was of the previous recent incumbents. Nothing has changed that much, if at all, but I am starting to wonder whether these players, this club is becoming unmanageable. There is a whole malaise running through every sinew of the club. I was always proud to be a Saints fan but right now I am embarrassed. These players, these owners, the guardians of our club have turned it into a sham.
Burnley and yesterday on 23:17 - Feb 9 with 1508 views | PatfromPoole | I think we are all numbed by it. Burnley however have something we don’t have. Proper old school defenders like Joe Worrall, who would risk a kick in the face if it meant stopping a goal. An absolute steal at £5 million from Forest. We have nobody like that. Burnley and yesterday on 23:40 - Feb 9 with 1436 views | Southamptonfan | It's a massive shame. I have always loved the FA Cup, with the magic of it shown at Home Park this afternoon. Sitting in a half empty, silent St Mary's yesterday was very depressing and it hurts doesn't it. Our club is a mess. With the owner telling us Juric is here to stay, gut feeling is that we could go.from bad to worse. I can't see us coming back up next season. [Post edited 9 Feb 23:42]

Burnley and yesterday on 03:49 - Feb 10 with 1273 views | BuenosSaint | Such a depressing season. But i expected it. However the final hope of a cup run had also been sucked out just to nail the coffin down. I really don't know what is going to happen to SFC. Is it going to be a whole lot worse before it gets better?. Are we going to actually struggle in the championship which is a whole new level of depression.

It's not the Southampton way for defenders to be brave. Our preference is for defenders to put their hands behind their back, shut their eyes and turn their back towards the striker. Bednarek and Stephens are masters of this.
Burnley and yesterday on 07:41 - Feb 10 with 1143 views | saintwizzler | I’m glad people are starting to see Juric for what he is. A cheap stopgap to finish the season with. My last game was West Ham on Boxing Day. My seat will remain empty now. I saw what I needed to see from Juric that day and on IPTV v Palace. I nearly succumbed and went to the Brentford hammering but watched at home. That could easily of been 10-0. The new manager bounce was 2 better performances v WHU and Palace. But 2 defeats. Juric is no better than Nathan Jones. It’s a repeat of the last relegation season. Is it the owners doing it on the cheap or trying to be clever? Anyway if Juric is still our manager on Season Ticket renewal deadline day then I won’t be renewing. Enough is enough. Sport Republic. Jokers. [Post edited 10 Feb 8:36]

| We thought that we had the answers,
It was the questions we had wrong. |

Burnley and yesterday on 08:29 - Feb 10 with 1088 views | saintmark1976 | You Sir deserve a medal, travelling a round trip of nearly 500 miles to watch Saturday’s dross. If you do decide not to attend another home game this season please don’t feel bad about it. Sometimes in life you have to step back from something you’ve become too close to and reconsider your options. Spend the money saved on a ticket, travel and food on something you or your family actually enjoy. A1079, like many of us who post on Nick’s site :- “We haven’t lost Southampton Football Club, Sports Republic have lost us”. [Post edited 10 Feb 8:55]

Does 'transfer listing' still exist? A few of those should be on it if it does. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Well, not really as the transfer window has made a transfer list obsolete, apart from twice a year.1

Burnley and yesterday on 10:03 - Feb 10 with 890 views | DorsetIan | So much now rests with Johannes Spors. Got to presume that he'll have a major say in whether Juric goes and, if he does, in the appointment of his successor. If Spors is as effective as most of the recent Sports Republic appointments then we are probably f*cked. We can only hope that he's not.

I left after the Brentford game and said to my son I don't think I'll be back this season (despite also having a ST). My son asked me at the weekend about heading down this coming Saturday for a day out. I said yes initially as it's something we do together but the thought of watching the football and seeing another set of away fans joyously celebrating is putting me off. I looked first thing this morning, there's 8 home games still to play but to be honest, I couldn't care less at this stage. Whether Juric is there or not next season, Sports Republic can feck off.

Burnley and yesterday on 19:20 - Feb 10 with 506 views | SP4Saint | A1079 I totally agree. I know it's only a game and a sideshow to every day life but stone me, this season hurts. I feel that the whole club is falling apart and that the business model that SR are trying to operate is responsible for the demise. How can they not see that the decisions that they make are to the detriment of SFC - selling the best players, replacing with inexperience in the hope that they can thrive and sell on, allowing others such as Stuart A to leave, loaning out a prospective goal scorer such as Dom B, letting Tella leave, not replacing Ings, buying young players from other teams they own, the list could go on. I don't particularly blame the managers we've had - they have tried their best with what they've been lumbered with. I don't think any manager could get a tune out of this squad. I think that the players do try but they're not good enough bar about 4 of the squad. The silver has been sold off and what's left are mainly the unwanted, inadequate and worthless. In my 55 years of supporting and watching Saints I don't think I have ever seen such a disjointed, inept and lacklustre squad as this. I can barely watch any football on TV this season as every other team that I see looks to be in better shape than Saints, including all our rivals along the south coast. We are a joke and I can't see it getting any better going forward with the current owners.
