The humiliation of Adam Armstrong by Southampton Football Club
at 12:39 5 Jan 2025

Difficult to disagree with Alfred House from the Echo on this one.

This has now gone absolutely viral, and is shambolic by the Club.

Adam Armstrong is one of the very few players at this Club who I have any time for.

He played a huge role in our promotion, and would never disrespect the Club by sitting on the pitch for 5 minutes after a home defeat to chat with an opponent, like Sulemana.

The Club owes him a public apology.

Disgraceful.

Do Not Give A Single Penny to Sports Republic
at 11:58 5 Jan 2025

Other than your season ticket / match ticket monies.

Boycott all gulags, the Dell Bar, food and drink, club shops, all merchandise.

All of it.

A wholly legal form of protest, cannot be dismissed by the Club as mob rule.

It will never happen of course, as there are far too many people who simply must get their fix of drinking crap lager in a plastic glass while bawling moronic Scouser songs about the club starting in a chapel.

But it would be a good start.

For those who think Sport Republic want a Championship club
at 08:39 3 Jan 2025

I just saw this article about Bristol City's latest financial results.

Despite selling Alex Scott to Boscombe for around £20 million and having a pretty good Cup run, they still lost over £3 million in the year.

They lost over £20 million in the year before that.

The Championship is a great League to play in, but it is almost impossible to be profitable whilst playing in it.

Ankersen's New Year Message to fans

Of Goztepe........

I dare say we won't be blessed with similar.

The man is the very definition of incompetence, and we will not progress as a club until he is got rid of.

2024 - the year for Saints
at 09:05 31 Dec 2024

Guess it's fair to describe it as a year of two halves......

Highs:-

West Brom away (League)
Huddersfield home (what a game that was)
Birmingham away
West Brom home (play-offs - proper noise that night and celebrations across the City long into the night)
Leeds at Wembley

Lows:-

Ipswich away last season
Leicester away last season
Stoke home
Moving from the Itchen North (I really loved it in there)
Pretty much every game in the Prem

I guess it's certainly not been dull, and I suspect 2025 won't be either.

Though a big part of me thinks of the Leeds play-off final as a "Sliding Doors" moment, and wonders quite how different the last 5 months would have been if Daniel James hadn't hit the bar at the end of that game.

Happy New Year to fellow Ugly comrades.

Nucleus of a fairly strong Championship side next season
at 13:30 30 Dec 2024

McCarthy
Bree
Wood
Edwards
Charlie Taylor
Downes
Aribo
Smallbone
Fraser
Archer
Armstrong

That's a starting 11 of players I don't see getting moves to a Prem club in the summer, possible question mark on Downes maybe.

With the likes of Fraser, Amo-Ameyaw and dare I say Stephens also there to add options from the bench.

You could see Archer and Armstrong each getting 20-odd goals in the Championship next season.

A few decent signings to give us more depth, and it should be a decent season.

Who is conducting transfer negotiations in January?
at 13:22 30 Dec 2024

Parsons?
Ankersen?
Bitcon?

Would be concerned with all of these.

Based on our summer business, Ramsdale and Fernandes apart, they have failed us miserably.

Our failure to replace Jason Wilcox has proved very costly.

Set pieces - again
at 11:51 23 Dec 2024

I really feel we have suffered with not having a dedicated set-piece coach.

With us creating so little in open play, we simply have to be more of a threat from set-pieces.

We had a number of corners in the second-half, but never looked like scoring from any of them.

There is very little imagination in our corners. You look at some of the goals Boscombe have scored from set-pieces, and they are clever, you can tell they properly practise them.

Marginal gains and all that nonsense has rarely seemed so apt.

Where are we at with these?

I think we should demand the publication of the pledges.

I know I can count on the support of FranniesTache on this key initiative.

It’s going to be Lallana, isn’t it?
at 08:10 16 Dec 2024

The moment I saw him suited up at the play-off final was when I feared this day would come.

Not as if he is ever fit enough to play.

Cheap option, no compo to pay.

Ticks a lot of boxes for the brainless board.

Sigh.
