With the spread of this illness what are the chances of games getting called postponed and the season not being completed.....

What would the financial knock on effect be to lower league clubs.....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

So the story that the reagents are inavailable was called out by Peston as a lie yesterday, today we see that the small business loan scheme is being absolutely abused by banks who are charging businesses exorbitant rates of interest, and /or asking directors to guarantee loans with their personal property . These shysters got bailed out in 2008, I hope Sunak can stop this happening or lots of small business will collapse very quickly

Thanks for your reply, and that certainly adds clarity but also adds specifics with your experience of the position in other nations

I'd add that clarity and specifics are very much at a premium on social media, which of course includes this messageboard; and it's to be fervently expected as well as hoped that changes will occur as a result of this crisis in not only future preparedness for the next outbreak but a wide range of humanitarian problems which might've appeared to be intractable until we demonstrate that the seemingly impossible can indeed be achieved, as you've highlighted

I’m not trying to argue, but why would any government benefit from intentionally limiting testing?
0

Coronavirus on 19:03 - Apr 1 with 2058 viewsBartRowou

I have no idea what the truth behind the lack of testing is. What I'm more sure about is that the current government is made up of bullying, duplicitous, back-stabbing, lying cowards. I therefore don't believe anything they say at a time when I'd like to.
They could be up to all sorts behind the scenes; Cummings will have it all wargamed and the gullible will lap it up.

Apologies, I could have made myself clearer. What I’m getting at is just because the government intends to do something (which it undoubtedly does re testing) it should not be beyond criticism in how it goes about doing it.
It appears that the government may, and I repeat may, have seeked to have blamed the lack of availability of certain chemicals as a reason for it not meeting, in fact falling woefully short of, its own targets. This is being argued to not be the case. The government may, and again I repeat may, have some blame here. If it has then this is something not to be established after the event so to speak. That will be too late. It needs addressing now. However, this can only be established and addressed by people being open to the possibility that the government maybe wrong on certain things.
What is more concerning is the reports coming through that the UK manufacturers of these products are saying that the government is not talking to them. They’re saying we can do it just tell us how much you need.

Reading between the lines, my take on what isn't being said rather than what is (i.e. not much) is that the test kit we have can only use a bespoke test "pack" (made up of readily available reagents but not packaged by the company making the test kit so not "recommended"). Like a leccy toothbrush can only use bespoke brush heads. So we are waiting for the company who makes the leccy toothbrush to deliver the right heads. Meanwhile the Jormans are using disposable leccy toothbrushes, brushing twice a day and all our teeth are falling out. Now we are probably looking at going back to disposable toothbrushes. Or summat like that.

Don’t usually bother getting involved in this sort of thing, but if it’s Farage, he’s a tvvat, irrespective of what he’s saying. So if there’s something specifically pertinent that he’s come out with, backed up with some facts, perhaps it could be repeated in text form for those of us who really don’t want to listen to his f@(£ing excruciating offence on soundwaves that passes for his voice.

Thanks.

There’s nothing pertinent. It’s just relentless criticism without offering any insight whatsoever into how he would manage the big issues. Healthcare, prevention, economic impact and people’s livelihoods and welfare.

Without having an opinion on Cummings one way or the other, which specific bits of his wargaming has the PM and his ministers appearing daily in news conferences putting projected figures for testing into the public domain which aren't then backed up by the reality?

What possible advantage accrues to the government through that?

Downing St confirming that only 2,000 frontline NHS staff out of 500,000 is an utterly shameful.
There is no excuse for this, and it is keeping self isolating staff from working- crazy waste of resources.

If what he says is true, people are flying in from China, Italy, New York with no health checks. No screening. At a time when we are told we can’t drive to the coast in our self isolated cars. Strange. Personally I am observing the restrictions but find getting food difficult and soon people are going to start flouting the government rules.
After the “lockdown” is the plan that we all go out and get infected gradually, and the death rate levels out? Great!
It might do people good to listen to those they disagree with?

I don't have the energy for this but I can't let this pass.... There's not much that could make me feel worse than I already do but the sight and sound of this utter xenophobic racist kvnt has managed it, the diatribe of continuous arse gravy that spews from his mouth turns the stomach of every right thinking human being....Unfortunately there are many intellectually challenged fvcknuggets that hang on his every word....He has no place on this or any other forum, consign him to the trash where he belongs.....

So can we have some facts then?

It’s not that I disagree with him, more that his opinion Isn’t worth listening to, especially when the opening line is “if what he says is true” when a request was made for pertinent points. What exactly has he said that adds anything worthwhile? Those reports about airports are all over twitter, so not sure what’s new coming from that idiot apart from a desire to create the usual divisions.

Should I listen to Harry Redknapp more because I disagree with him too?

The vast vast majority of people understand the lockdown. It’s reinforced when we hear experts and those on the frontline imploring us to remove ourselves from social contact. It’s certainly not what any of us would have chosen but, in comparison to those on the frontline in hospitals, supermarkets and care homes, our sacrifice is minimal.
We’re doing it to save lives.
So, forgive us if we don’t all get excited as you do about what is effectively Nigel Farage whinging about having to self-isolate in his country retreat. Forgive us for not agreeing with him when he likens it to being under “house arrest”. Compare poor Nige’s struggles with his self-isolation hell with that of a doctor or nurse in an A&E department right now. Poor Nigel, poor poor Nigel.
Note how he doesn’t propose any alternatives. No policy, no nothing. Just reactionary whining.
This crisis is going to sort the political wheat from the chaff. It’s going to require politicians of substance, and not rabble rousing orators. Those able to organise, plan, manage and be creative in policy. Thus far nationalist populists seem to be struggling massively in how to deal with it and move beyond...well, rabble rousing.
