With the spread of this illness what are the chances of games getting called postponed and the season not being completed.....

What would the financial knock on effect be to lower league clubs.....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

Its a bad lottery ,my dad nearly died 12 months ago in a care home that has now shut ,he went to a 5 star place having been in hospital 6 weeks. This home was fantastic he was in but sadly died on monday having already been on shut down for over 3 weeks. He died of pneumonia and a secondary covid 19 infection but because he died in hospital he is now a statistic. If he died in the home he would not have been counted ( how many are not being reported). At the moment i can attend his funeral but rules are changing by the day , i will only know for sure the day before.

Thanks for the link. I always like listening to him and the other Hitchens who unfortunately is not around any more.

Interestingly why has someone marked down the Quigley post? Presumably they think it was a good idea?

Some points in here (including drones chasing solitary hikers on the moors) I don't disagree with, however the "expert" that he's chosen to cite believed on 28th March that there would be 5,700 deaths in the UK from coronavirus. We are now at 3,700, with 700 new deaths yesterday. All I can do with this article is bookmark it and revisit periodically over the next month or two. Hitchins knows as much as the rest of us.

Hi D2 absolutely exhausted with no energy, Iv'e had Flu before which had me flat on my back for over a week and pluracy on a few occasions but nothing at all compares to this...It's really difficult to do anything, the worst thing was the sore throat as it felt like barbed wire when swallowing, that has improved massively so I can now drink copious amounts or orange juice and unsweetened black coffee whish weirdly eased the pain quite a bit...lungs are still rasping and still coughing which cause pain in the upper back.....Got a few days left of a 10 day course of antibiotics and steroids. I can get out of bed but cannot walk upright, toileting would be funny if it wasn't so annoyingly difficult....When (if) the season starts up again it will be easier getting through turnstiles with the weight I have lost...My doctor phones me daily which is well above and beyond his duty of care...He has given me his mobile number and that of his secretary in case I need him...Never known a doc like him .....Not getting a great deal of sleep but Netflix has been on overtime whilst sitting propped up in bed..I'm setting myself a taget of Monday to be out of bed and functioning enough to get my dog back home...I hope your GP gave you some good news and you feel better soon, you can always PM me if you need to get anything off your chest....Thanks to all the peeps on here for the good wishes and messages, stay safe and well everyone....Moony

Thank you for your kind words and you are right about everyone involved in any way with the NHS, the care they are giving and the dangers they are facing is unbelievable....As I type this I have just listened to an NHS doctor still in his scrubs on C4 news and the terrifying descriptions of his daily efforts in an intensive care unit....It was harrowing viewing, not ashamed to say it had me in tears....If anyone hasn't watched it please watch it on 4+1 ... The psychological fallout of all this is yet to happen to these workers...Heartbreaking.

Deepest condolences DL. Having lost both my folks in less than 2 years of each other recently, I know what you are going through, but being denied the chance to pay your respects is beyond the pale. I sincerely hope you can be there to see him off.

On the subject of bankers it is well documented what they did with the money that was supposed to stimulate the economy after the financial crash.

There are two themes running through both this article and Nigel Farage’s piece. These are: a deluge of criticism but no forwarding of any policy alternatives; and (ii) victimhood - Farage invoked him being under ‘house arrest’ and Hitchins invokes him being in a ‘Stasi’ state. With regards to the latter, only a rudimentary understanding of the DDR secret police would lead to the conclusion that we certainly do not live in such an oppressive regime. It’s like a reverse Godwin’s Law. What next Kiwi? An article in the Daily Telegraph titled “This is just like The Great Terror” by Anthony Singen Smyth III, who tells us his nannies are begging him to work without a mask.
The police aren’t secret and killing people, the virus is.
Anyway, Donald Trump, who has been broadly in line with the lassez-faire approach shared by Farage and Hitchins, has, you may have noticed, done a huge u-turn this week and gone pro-shutdown. One can only presume that the truly frightening figures he was receiving prompted this and data showing that if the pandemic isn’t ’managed’ then the overall economic outcome will be far worse.
Like I said, this crisis is going to sort out the wheat from the chaff.
However, I must confess to being surprised at how bad the right (those beyond the centre right) have handled this. I suspect because the core issues are health, public service, science and people’s welfare. Not particularly the right’s strong point.
Farage and Hitchins are behaving like spoilt little boys not being able to play out and calling their dad (probably nannies actually) fascists for not doing so. It does confirm one thing though, those who constantly go on about ‘snowflakes’ and the like are often the biggest snowflakes of the lot.
So, from a leftie to two right-wingers...stop fooking whining, get a backbone and do your bit for this national cause. Ooohhhh now there’s irony for you.

Just looked at BASF Ludwigshafen on google earth. Blimey If you were building a factory from scratch you couldn’t do any better. Rhine delivering raw materials and shipping stuff out. Loads of rail connections and motorways. Makes UK look pathetic.
