Darling has shown that he’s an outstanding centre back. Good on the ball, comfortable in possession and can stride forward to bring the ball confidently out of defence he’s an excellent Championship defender. But he’s also capable and prone to moments where he can let himself ( and consequently ) the team down.
His rash decision making can be costly. He didn’t need to make that tackle on Brewster on Tuesday. On halfway there was no need for it. Pointless appealing. Debatable red card and harsh but he gave the referee a decision to make. He knows that you cannot lunge in like that.
When you say “pull out all the stops? “ It depends what you mean? His salary requirements might be excessive. In which case he’ll go. We don’t want to lose him as he’s going to get even better but this is the new Swansea City. It’s a different animal now. | |
