Ridiculous poll. How can anybody be shocked? We have been telling you long before relegation that there is little to no money.
One good thing about relegation is that slowly but surely, all of the posters that spout such rubbish as “where is all the money?”, “they have pocketed £50m in wages”, “why can’t we sign a £7m player, they aren’t backing the manager”... etc etc may just learn a thing or two about the club and indeed the finances involved in that.
This win at all costs and instant success and short termism ideals are an awful addition to the modern fan. We are rebuilding after a period of sustained success for a club our size. Really a truly remarkable era. It took us years to get there, yet people expect an instant return and anything else meaning we are in “serious trouble”.
Look at the center back scenario last month. The panic on here was ludicrous with people quoting “we have a game on Saturday!!” In response to suggestions that this is a long term plan and also the loan window continues for another few weeks (which we of course utilised). There was no thought past the following Saturday, bizarre.
We will have to stabilise for a good 2/3 seasons before we can expect any sort of promotion challenge, be that autos of via playoffs. Any calls for spending above our means prior to that are not helpful and show a distinct lack of understanding of Championship life, a league where the max we spent on a single player prior to promotion was £1.9m and the only player we ever (in our entire history) signed with a million tag on him outside the PL (Caveat for the fanclub - Sinclair rose above the million mark but only after our Pl status confirmed).

We did not “p*ss away” 7 years worth of revenue, it was the spending of that revenue that allowed us to stay there.
Do you think it would be realistic for a club to be promoted, have the incurred costs of staying there for 7 years and get relegated with a profit?
Just go back a few years and we find our club on the crest of a wave and to the surprise of most, in the top flight of the world's best football league. Despite all the good work that had been done by Jenkins & Co in getting us there, in my opinion, they were simply NOT READY FOR THE BIG TIME. I mean, was running a multi-million football enterprise something a failed director of a roofing supplier cut out to do? I think probably not, despite his support for the club. Unfortunately I don't think Jenkins saw it this way, and as the years passed his ever increasing ego, after early success, has been proven to be unsurpassed, as we can now see by his status in the running of the club. He's clearly lost the plot when it comes to making decisions regarding the recruitment of players, which has resulted in our relegation and the predicament we find ourselves in at the present time. Unfortunately I think we are stuffed in respect of getting shot of Jenkins despite the verbal chorus at recent games, because we have majority American owners who frankly don't give a damn.
There's an old saying: "If you pay peanuts you get monkeys". Unfortunately we don't but we still get monkeys.

Let’s all agree here. We had seven wonderful years in the greatest league in the world,won a major trophy and went on a European tour. Up untill 3 or 4 years ago Jenkins was doing a wonderful job and then the sale to the Surely nobody expected us to be in such a mess after all the tv money,sponsorship etc etc and yes I do understand we signed players and payed decent wages. Now the rumour is we are on our fuçking arse financially and in a bit of bother balancing the books

Football has become more artisan than partizan, Mr Loyal. Times have changed and if (hopefully not) it hits the fan then we only have ourselves to blame.
Yes and no! Yes - I have always thought that the club would need to cut its costs considerably. I honestly expected at least 15 and as many as 20 of last seasons squad to be moved on because of the considerable decrease in turnover. I thought they would be replaced by Championship quality players who would strengthen a young squad which could then make a genuine challenge for promotion. I did not expect to see the squad left so bereft of cover. I am very surprised as to the extent of the cuts.
No- some of the club’s recent transfer business has been shocking and the club appears to have lost millions of pounds on a number of transfers, Ayew, Bony, Clucas, Baston, Mesa, Tabannou

There’s more and that list could be added to easily. But there have been players sold on for a profit too, that has dried quite considerably with only Mawson, Siggy and perhaps llorente. I’d say though, that llorente was not bought to specifically sell on for a profit.
I’d say the transfer fails far outweighs the successes over the last few years.

Not surprised that our finances are stretched and we have been looking to cut our wage outgoings. I agree with it, would encourage it and is refreshing to see a club taking a responsible attitude towards the running of the club.
However voted yes as completely effing gobsmacked at the chaotic way it's been done, the appaling way Potter seems to have been lied to and let down. If Bony goes today and we don't bring a striker in that's me done with them.

You’re mixing up quality of signings with value of signings.
If it had not been Borja, Mesa et al it would have been other players at similar values. Whether they would be any good or not is an entirely different question altogether.
Some posters have very short memories and seem to forget their own posts. Especially ones which demonstrates that they have changed opinion. Is this to force an argument, or the dynamics of the changing situation and news about our club, i.e. an agenda. For one I suspect the later, for another the former applies.
