There are pelnty of sites for student accomodation elsewhere. It's why the numerous private landlords across Brynmill and Uplands are now housing the various down and outs and needy people sent by the council, there isn't the student demand because of all the big blocks of flats.

Nostalgia is great, I'd love a return to a ground like the Vetch but that will never happen now. Even if the East stand went all terraced, we'd never be allowed the numbers on it like we sometimes got on the North bank.

When you say a few years, how many is that..5..10? I'll put 50 quid on it now that won't happen because if demand is that high for student digs it'll all be built by then.

Besides all that, I'm not sure the Rec can be sold to developers.

Planning permission is needed for the council for flats. The land I had permission for use as sporting arena presumably. New flat could be stopped by the ratepayers if they kick up a big fuss.

Any idiot knows planning permission would be needed. Regardless, I think there are reasons why the rec can't be sold to developers. The council have discussed it in the past, there was once talk of houses, a cafe and a park and ride there but it never happened.

I believe the Rec was gifted to the citizens of Swansea but trying to find out the source is proving difficult.

Yes, I thought that too but I can't find the evdiecne either. The council probably buried it when they considered selling it, pure speculation on my part and purely my own thoughts on it obviously.

Possibly there is no guarantee that the Rec needs to be a green open space.

I believe the longterm plans are a hotel, food and drink outlets and hospitality for the ground. Probably 5-6 years away.

Cheers yes found that as well but little else, I thought it formed part of the Vivian Estate including Singleton Park but perhaps I'm wrong.

The Vivian estate goes a long way up mind and there's lots of houses on that land, has been for decades.
I was at a house on Myrtle Grove in the Uplands and the homeowner was tellin me how his house used to be the rear entrance to the estate, it was the gatekeepers lodge according to him.

Number 8 I think it was.
