Well the punishment for breaking the limit,

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/police-confirm-how-punish-drivers-

Given how many idiots are on the roads, the delivery drivers under pressure and the actual difficutly in staying below 20 (it is difficult, I do it every week when I go to Cardiff and it's harder than you'd think, specially going downhill) there will be a lot of speeding going on.

The Senedd expect the fire brigade to become a road safety unit, how stupid is that? The fire brigade have their job and it's hard enough for them to do that the way the Senedd behaves.

Then there's the pollution problem, all those cars tootling around in second gear will fill the streets with pollution, it'll rise and rise and the few accidents stopped by this madness will be replaced tenfold and more in the years to come by serious health issues, those with asthma can look out, better buy your respirators now.

I wonder if cancers will also increase?

By the time we have all gone electric, assuming we all do, thousands of lives will be blighted by illness.

Some people clearly aren't all that concerned about their suspension then. I've got a Suzuki Vitara and even with that ground clearance I tend to be very careful over speed bumps with it.

You wouldn't even notice the speed bumps over here, they are the square red types, most cars can go over them and hardly notice, apart from the really small ones like an Aygo.

I can easily drive under 20 mph, anyone who can't needs to look at their driving ability.

Pumping out more pollution as you drive along slowly in low gears.

It is a blanket restriction in Wales where all previous 30mph zones are now at the default speed of 20 mph unless local councils apply for in exemption.

Meanwhile in progressive England the default limit is still unless councils apply for 20 mph exemptions outside schools, hospitals, narrow streets and accident blackspots.

Surely even you can spot the difference. Nice map though even if it is not accurate or to scale.

466,401 Welsh Residents support the petition to rescind the 20mph law
Only 5292 support keeping the 20 mph petition.

Thats only about 3 million who dont agree with you then.

The road by me in Swansea was a 30 zone and , guess what, its still 30.

The road near the school is now 20 but you would have only have done 20 previously.

Hopefully this small change will save a few lives, even you should be able to see that.

The objections are mostly political.

Hopefully by trashing the Welsh economy by billions it will have all been worth it .

Unfortunately no investments in new roads leads to congestion, more accidents. Wales needs new bypasses to reduce accidents.

Perhaps you should send it to Drakeford not that he will listen because he is always right.

Hopefully when the final two sections of the heads of valleys Road are complete that will be one more accident black spot sorted.

Is that a default speed limit or just on several roads.

No problem with 20 mph speed limits where appropriate, schools, hospitals and accident blackspots. The default speed limit will remain at 30mph in London on often fast where it is appropriate.

Oi bright spark, how many of those 3 million are drivers? How do yu know what 3 million people are thinking or what they agree with?

It's not like you to make totally ridiculous, unsubstantiated claims...much.

Don't tell me, it's a joke.

Killy clearly does not read the Senedd's own Web site.

Only 5294 people in Wales have signed the petition to keep the 20mph limit.

While a massive 466,422 want the Welsh Government to recind the 20 mph law

Clearly he has overestimated the number who agree with you by 2,994,706.

No like Killy to be so wrong is it.

The millions spent on the 20 mph limit could have been better spent on accident spots and actually saving lives.

Equally any motoring expert will tell you vehicles are more efficient in high gears. They use less fuel per mile and they burn less fuel per mile creating less pollution. Even they Welsh government agree with that which is why they have imposed 50 mph limits, to cut down pollution, on the M4 particular in Port Talbot. 50mph being the speed which the average vehicle is most fuel efficient and least polluting.

What is not beyond dispute is braking from 30mph to drive at 20 mph then accelerating back to 30mph is the most polluting of all. The AA and RAC both say accelerating slowly and changing to a high gear as soon as possible and then keeping at a constant speed is the most fuel efficient.

You've changed your tune on the 20mph. You were dead against it initially. However as has been mentioned schools built up housing estates I haven't got a problem. I would love to see the Gower roads slowed down ( not to 20) . Livestock and horses are continuously mowed down through speeding and error. Rural roads are by far the most accident proan with most injuries and fatalities.
