ITS HAPPENING

While a totally different player, the well wishes of his manager and fans, the references to terrorising centre halves and nearly killing someone with a shoulder barge; not been this excited by a relatively unknown signing since Johnny Byrne.

A striker? And not just one on loan?

I'll be back in a couple of hours, I need a lie down.

Great news, well done my club!

A thing of outstanding beauty.

Of course, if it was done against us we’d be screaming blue murder and I suspect the word ‘suspended’ might be something we’ll see by his name on more than one occasion, but he’s a phenomena in the making and already my player of the season based on one interview!

He won the ball and then encored with a sliding tackle.

I flipping hope so. I know traffic cones that have more about them than Tamás Priskin had for us.

Welcome to West London. Lyndon.

We’re gonna need a decent centre back to defend those free kicks.

From what I’ve seen if he scores from the edge of the 6-yard box it counts as one of his long-range efforts. Btw: that’s not a complaint.

Au contraire Bazza, if it encourages us to get a big bass at the back I’m all for it. Should be fun all round.

I fully agree the lad needs to hit the ground running, which is a big ask for a lad untested at this level.I too would find it hard to believe Warburton would abandon his principals at this stage, but it may be forced upon him. Where is the creativity without Eze? Dobbie worked with Dykes for two years - admittedly at a lower level again - but reckoned they were his strengths at the time. He may well have developed him game since then. No harm if we do mix it up a bit anyway, it would make us less predictable. According to the stats, Van Dyke and Robinson had the most touches in the prem, but you could never accuse Liverpool of being shy about hitting Salah or Mane at the earliest opportunity.

I saw mention of Dobbie before, is this Stephen Dobbie commenting of when they were together at Queen of the South?
If so, from what I can remember they were more of a footballing team although Lyndon (first name now he's ours) was a target man but his job was to get the ball in controlled areas for Dobbie and he was phenomenal goal screr at that time, in no way would I have put them as a team who only launched the ball long for a willing runner.
Vast difference in league standard but I think they played similarly to how MW will want, quick transition from possession at back into front man and link up with supporting midfielders or ball carried by midfield and he's their support/buffer.
Playing like that Dobbie got 140 ish goals in 4 seasons playing with him, it definitely wasn't long punts up to the big man who chased it over the defence, far more controlled.
He will fit MW style of play far better than someone less mobile like posh Matt Smith.

That's the one Karl, I think I may have called him Scott Dobbie previously in error. He was saying that QoS WERE a footballing team as you say and that he (Dobbie) benefitted from having the ball on the deck (something like 84 goals in 2 seasons, I think was quoted in the article). But he also said that Lyndon (first name now he's ours), thrived on longer balls over the top which he held up for Dobbie to do his thing. I really don't mind, It's great to have our own striker. I would try and caution against over-hype and unrealistic expectations if I didn't know how futile that would be.
