Politics and money, they tend to be stripped of the belts quite a lot if they don’t fight the right people etc.

Or in Lennox's case, he retired undisputed so all the belts became vacant with different bodies having their own No1 challenger.

It was certainly recognised by the WBO. You could just as easily argue that anyone who held the title before the WBC or IBF were founded held all the belts there being only the one. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Don't be silly. The fact that the WBO recognised their own title is plain stupid. The WBA, WBC and IBF titles were the only recognised bodies at that time. Lennox Lewis was the last undisputed heavyweight Champion. The WBO wasn't recognised until 2007. [Post edited 25 Feb 2020 20:54]

Jack Dempsey, the very first Heavyweight Champion held a Ring belt. They continued giving a belt until around 1997, then started again in 2001. Not actually sure if it's ever been recognised as an official title though.

I wouldn't dispute that from a personal point of view some would. Ring has a fantastic reputation.

Wouldn't it be great if the WBA, WBA, IBF and the WBO all got together in somewhere like Butlins at Minehead, and all fought each other in an Anchorman style battle to the death to find which completely spurious dollar making shitshow was the ultimate pugilistic organisation. It would certainly cancel out a lot of confusion.

It might cause more confusion for the doddery old elderly ladies who were expecting to see Cannon and Ball.

So Joe Calzaghe wasn't a world champion either then as he won WBO off Eubank in 1997.... what an absolute load of b0ll0cks

Calzaghe won all the belts but didn’t hold them all at the same time. One of them got stripped, can’t remember which one because he fought that guy from that reality TV show.

Thing is Calzaghe beat and fought the best so we can have a pretty good idea that he was a genuine world champ, now its a different matter for all these so called British world champions and former ones for eg Billy Joe Saunders, Liam Smith, and so many more, now these guys are what we call joking world champs, they win one of the the title`s against another joking champion then avoid fighting the best out there, once they do they normally lose, that why I respect the UFC so much as the best just have to fight the best end of. World heavyweight boxing on 18:38 - Feb 27 with 3361 views | PozuelosSideys | Fury/Joshua would become the first HW to hold all 4 belts at the same time. LL was the first to hold three. 4 is harder effectively due to politics and the different associations having their own agendas and generally being a pack of cnts. Should Fury win and hold all 4 then retire, the belts would all be thrown into the air and the whole mess would start all over again. This is the main reason why the best dont fight the best a lot of the time these days. When you only have one belt to fight for, everyone has to work their way up the rankings to get to the same single top spot, not one of 4.

Try doing a bit of research instead of mouthing off about something you obviously know nothing about. This may help.............. www.google.co.uk No need to thank me. Oh, and he didn't win it off Eubank, as Eubank wasn't the Champion. It was a vacant title as the holder Steve Collins retired. There endeth the lesson. [Post edited 28 Feb 2020 19:20]
