First QPR result of your lifetime? 16:20 - Nov 11 with 11736 viewsBluce_Ree

For some reason, about three minutes ago I decided to look up the first QPR fixture to happen in my lifetime. I was a mere four days old when QPR played Liverpool at home.

QPR 0 - Liverpool 1. Oct 19th 1974.

Probably explains why I hate those c*nts so much.

What's youRs?

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Lost 2-1 to Birmingham first day of the 1970 - 71 season two months after I was born. Had no idea until now but have never liked Brum, now maybe I now know why

And I was there for that one too.

Two minutes silence at the start, as it was the day after JFK was shot.

4 -1 down at half time.

Second half; Lazarus played out of his skin and we finished up with a 4 - 4 draw.

One of Terry McQuade's few games for QPR, never seen a winger more scared of a full back than him.

Am I right, newgold dream?

CiderwithRosie,

Last year, I felt like committing mass murder what with Hughes and his bunch of wasters.

If I had one bullet left, you know who would get it, don't you?

Born in June '70 so opening day of 70-71 was the first in my lifetime.

We lost 2-1 away to Birmingham.

First three games of my life:-

Lost 1-2 (a) Birmingham
Lost 1-3 (h) Leicester
Drew 2-2 (a) Bolton

I was nearly walking by the time we finally won, a 2-0 win away to Blackburn on 2nd September.

Played when I was 2 days old.
Nice to know we won at Selhurst Park
Sat 04 Mar 1939 Crystal Palace A League W 1-0 Selhurst Park Goal scorer Billy McEwan. Alec Stock played. We were 5th in the league, looking to have a good run in and possible promotion.
Unfortunately we only won 2 of the following 12 matches. Which seems to be a pattern that has marked my Rangers adventure

Born in April 1969, there were no games other than the FA Cup Final after that, so fast forward to 9 Aug 1969 and we beat Hull 3-0 in Div 2 after being relegated from Div 1. The Sat before I was born we lost 2-1 to Chelsea. It's just possible that my dad was at that game as he was a policeman at the time and regularly did football duty.

"Thank you for supporting Queens Park Rangers Steep Staircase"... and I thought I'd signed up for a rollercoaster.

Fascinating thread now I have just checked mine.

Mum grew up on White City Estate after arriving off the boat from Co Kerry.
Dad arrived over from Ireland age 16 and started supporting the hoops.
Mum & Dad married in Our Lady of Fatima Church on White City Estate in June 1966.
Their wedding reception was in the General Smuts afterwards.
There was only going to be one team for me on that basis.
In 1967 Queens Park Rangers won the Football League cup the only trophy of note in the cabinet and the first 3rd division club to win it, and it was the first League Cup final at Wembley as we know.

I arrived on Thursday 26th October 1967 at 10am
Two days later QPR were away at Blackpool on Saturday 28th October, the Superhoops winning away 0-1 to take them to the top of Division 2 on GD over Blackpool.

The significance of that win can then be seen in the final league table on the last day of the 1967/68 season when QPR finished second behind Ipswich to seal the second promotion place.

The team who finished 3rd on the same points total but a worse GD was..........

Blackpool

What a great year to be born in to the QPR family!!

Shame it has been pretty much down hill ever since.

Your parents took a while to tie the knot didn't they A40???

I was born on 18th July '75. So my first game was a pre-season friendly on the 20th July against the then German Champions and U.E.F.A Cup holders Borussia Munchengladbach. Spanked 'em 4-1 (Bowles 2, Webb 2).

First league game of the 75/76 was of course v Liverpool which we won 2-0 (Francis and Leach). Wonder what happened at the end of that season?

My twins were born at Queen Charlotte's on 20th July '04. The summer after we'd got promoted from League 2 (League 1 as it is now). My missus was about 6 months pregnant when we watched the Sheff Weds game at Loftus Rd. We had a works do (that I organised) on the 21st July. It was a Box at QPR in a pre-season friendly against Ajax! I was at the hospital holding one of my boys, looking out the window towards the floodlights and I looked at my missus and said "babe...", she replied "NO!" So all my work colleagues went, and I didn't!

First league game that season we drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham (Ainsworth).
