Can't quite put my finger on why. Oh well, no sense wondering. May as well just enjoy the feeling . . . |

I'll bet my stocking on it. |

I am staggered. I hope they go down now. |
| Forum Thread | Some ambition at last? at 13:24 20 Aug 2012
Connor Samon, 1.2m. After all the lower-league players with "potential" that we've signed this summer, maybe this signing represents a little more ambition. |
| Forum Thread | Still looking light in some positions at 15:28 20 Jul 2012
Left back, central midfield (unless we keep James Bailey) and up front (assuming Davies goes). But I don't know if I can see us bringing in 3 more players. |

On the plus side they're really simple, and I love the return to the plain ram. On the down side, they have the biggest sponsor logo I've ever seen, which completely ruins them. |
| Forum Thread | I'm sure it wasn't the plan at 11:32 10 Jul 2012
to start the season with a weaker squad than we finished the last one with. But that's how it's shaping up. If we don't get a couple of decent players in soon it's going to be a long season. |
| Forum Thread | 60 points at 12:46 11 Apr 2012
Well, it's not the play-offs, and it's not quite what many of us had hoped for back in August, but it is a landmark of sorts. And it's a crucial psychological marker for the players and what they can achieve next season. It shows that we are really not that far from being a top 6 team. Indeed, had we not melted down quite so spectacularly in the 2nd quarter of the season, we would be sitting up where Blackpool are now. I just hope that the owners take it on board, and make a little money available in the summer. Yes, we lost £7m this year, but a fair bit of that is down to low attendances - and they will get lower if there is nothing worth watching at PPS next year. A couple of decent signings this summer, plus our growing band of quality youngsters, might just give us that extra push next year. So, messrs Glick and co; note, 60 points with 4 games to go represents real improvement . . . now don't blow it. |

Not feeling confident about tomorrow. A slightly resurgent Forest well above us in the form table. A home defeat for us at the weekend. The omens are not good. |
| Forum Thread | the bare minimum this summer at 10:33 25 Feb 2012
Okay, we've had the clear-out (and a few more will be on the way out in the summer, I'm sure), now we need to get some in. So what's the bare minimum we need? Personally, if we don't sign 2 full backs (having Green fill in for the injured Brayford is a disaster for both positions and messes up the team) and a big head-the-ba' up front I'm going to be hammering on the door of PPS come August. A decent right winger and a midfielder who can pass would be nice, too. But the full-backs and the centre forward are not up for debate, imo. I'm not saying we should spend a fortune, but if we offload 3 or 4 others (we all know who they are) we won't be breaking the bank. And if we don't show some intent, who's going to buy a season ticket? |
| Forum Thread | Redknapp for England? at 15:28 17 Feb 2012
The question is why? I have got to say I have never rated him as a manager. When things go well he's full of himself; when they don't, he finds someone to blame. What has he actually achieved as a manager? I'll come clean: I don't like him. I don't trust him. I don't rate him. His record: Bournemouth, over 8 or 9 years he took them up, then took them down. West Ham, 7 years, kept them in the prem with a couple of top 10 finishes, but spent a lot of money in the process, and left as the skint ship was about to sink. Pompey, 3 years, more money spent. Promotion - fair enough. Swore blind he wouldn't leave and go to Saints. Left and went to Saints. Took Saints down. Pompey again, 3 years, spent vast amounts, won the cup. Swore blind he hadn't been interviewed for the Newcastle job. Had actually been interviewed for the Newcastle job. Spurs. Took over a team that was struggling but full of quality. Has done well, but God knows how much money he's spent. Where, in all this, is the evidence of success without the aid of big money? Where is integrity, exceptional achievement? In total, 1 cup, 2 promotions, 2 relegations. A few statements of questionable veracity, and a lot of cockney BS. England manager? On 2nd thoughts, he sounds perfect. |
| Forum Thread | Redknapp cleared at 13:33 8 Feb 2012
In time to become England manager. How convenient. I find this verdict stunning. Money in offshore accounts, no tax paid. Not guilty? Surely some mistake. |
| Forum Thread | Terry stripped of captaincy at 11:58 3 Feb 2012
Had he been any kind of a man he would have stepped down as captain until after the trial - it's not an admission of guilt, just the gentlemanly thing to do. It would have got the FA and his teammates out of an awkward spot and cleared the air for football to continue until after the trial. But once again he has shown what a team player he is not. This man is seriously lacking in character. |
| Forum Thread | next 2 games at 11:37 6 Jan 2012
Could be very interesting. You'd say we should win them, with Palace's minds on the league cup and Coventry so bad. But will our players value the cup? And will Coventry fight for their lives? If we are to progress we really should win these 2. In a way it's more of a test than playing West Ham, because these games are the comedy basics. |
| Forum Thread | Now Green says he wants to stay at 09:07 4 Jan 2012
Which is exactly the kind of thing players say just before they leave. No mention from him in the DET article about the new deal offered him by the club in the summer. Something smells fishy. Definitely not straightforward. But I'd be amazed if he wasn't lured away this month. |
