Ramsdale was excellent today and made some crucial saves. He looked so commanding and confident today. Fernandes is a brilliant little player. He goes forward with speed, tenacity and skill. He is going to be some player. Bednerak was also excellent today I thought. We struggled up front, it is such a struggle to score, but good old Adam Armstrong can always be relied on in big games. We were more compact today and it definitely helped defensively. We were very cautious, but really pushed in the final quarter and got the goal. Great win. Another big game next week. And everyone needs to hold their nerve. RM took us up last season. Win at Wolves and things are looking a lot rosier. Sacking the manager can cause more harm than good with upheaval and too much change. The players areplaying for this manager. It came good today. Indeed enjoy a drink or three. He is not good enough defensively. Most of our players aren't good enough. It's almost impossible to win games when our players just arnt as good as the opposition. |

All comes back to the fact that we need the top 6 to f@ck off to their super league. The other clubs are desperately trying to remain competitive in a sh!t league so also put the prices up. And even clubs like Saints, know that tourists will buy up the tickets for the big games if Saints fans don't. The top 6 know that tourists will pay £80 for a ticket, so of course they charge it. |

Yes, people should be more responsible, less selfish, less reliant on the state, more resilient. That's a different conversation about how to go about that. But older people often don't have friends and relatives to help. If they have children, they are probably working every day and might not have a spare room and time or can afford to have days off to look after their parents or can afford private care. People are living longer, and therefore require more care. You can't leave people to suffer, so the state intervenes. This costs money. If someone is suffering, and is ill, very old, a child or , mentally ill, the state should intervene. How we bring down these numbers of people needing help is another conversation. More and more people are having children and don't know how to parent. Yes, tackle that but not a clue how, because again you can't leave a child being beaten up or suffering. More and more money is needed because it seems to be more common with record numbers of children needing care. Stop the bad parenting is the answer but how do you do that? [Post edited 1 Nov 15:02]

Send all the over the 65's to Scotland, ha. This is the government bus to the mountains, fend for yourselves. Visions of 90 year olds in the snow with their walking aids and wooly hats, whilst the young and the rich live in mansions with their low taxes and cavier on tap. You're absolutely right, that some old people don't have family members and /or don't have family members who are willing to help. You can't leave old people suffering, he is clearly on the wind up. Many older people end up taking up beds in hospitals because they have nowhere else to go. This is because social care doesn't have the resources to cope with the demand. Same with mental health. A patient with mental health issues, who just needs some support, ends up in hospital. [Post edited 1 Nov 14:37]

And why are people not being discharged from hospital be dealt with by social care services? The answer is in the article you posted “The shocking situation is that we have more people requesting help from councils, more older and disabled with complex needs, yet social care capacity has reduced and we have 50,000 fewer paid carers,” she said. Why has social care capacity been reduced? To save money by any chance? Social care needs more money, simple as that. Then the bed blockers would have somewhere to go, wouldn't be taking up beds in hospitals and then the ambulances could be more efficient. But social care doesn't have the money to provide a service. Same for mental health. They go to hospital instead of getting out patient care, because there just arn't enough mental health practitioners to cope.with the demand. And all.of that costs money. And that is just one aspect of the NHS that isn't working. Not enough doctors to do all the operations, so people are waiting a year for heart surgery. The doctors who are there, can't work any quicker! They just need more of them. And again, that costs money. [Post edited 31 Oct 0:44]

I went to the Engineers Arms after the game for a burger and a pint. Decent owners. Hope they prosper. I agree about number 5. The away fans try to goad the home support in the Chapel but those fans just sit there in silence. The Northam tried to make some noise at times but as you say, without any away fans to interact with, it's very low key and nothing comes of it! |

Watching prisoners released early, cracking open bottles of champagne is just terrible. But that's the state we are in. More money is needed for more prisons, more staff, more police, more doctors and more dentists 😁 [Post edited 30 Oct 23:11]

Horrible draw. There will be Liverpool plastics all over the ground and they will beat us. Saints will say that you need to have been to a 24 / 25 game to get a ticket. I'm sure some.of the.plastics.will get tickets for Liverpool league game a few weeks before in order to.qualify for the Cup game. [Post edited 30 Oct 23:22]

There is definitely room for improvement with efficiency, but I know for a fact that on some days, there arn't enough ambulances for example. There just arn't enough vehicles and there arn't enough paramedics etc at peak times. Ambulance waiting times at peak times for example are unacceptable, for example an old lady left on the floor.all night, I have links for this. Surely she was left on the floor because they didnt have an ambulance avaliable? So wouldn't more money for more ambulances and more paramedics help? The view is that there just isn't enough staff and ambulances. How could they be more efficient if there just arn't enough? What about prisons? We need more and it costs money to build them and staff them!! How could you be more efficient? 10 to a room? [Post edited 30 Oct 22:53]

I disagree. The services could definitely be more efficient but they also need more money. Any nurse doctor or NHS worker will tell you that. |

They can't do anything unless we come out of the Human Rights act or whatever it's called. The law says that anyone at threat of torture or violence are entitled to protection by law and therefore can stay here. We can't send them back to a place of danger and the Rwanda thing never got started because the courts said it was unlawful. There is nothing we can do. The politicians know it, so just pretend and tell us something we might like to hear. |
| Forum Reply | The Budget at 18:04 30 Oct 2024
We know they won't solve that issue because they can't. Exactly the same as the previous government. Under the Conservatives, who are supposed to be for controlling immigration, illegal immigration was the worst it has ever been in our history. So they are also not the answer, because again, they can't do anything about it. |

It's obvious that more money is needed for the services. We are all paying tax, to not get a proper service at the moment (I.e can't see a doctor for months, can't see a dentist, schools lacking in money, prisons in chaos, trains are useless etc). So more money is needed, so that we get a better service (hopefully).Tax had to go up. Whether they should have just put up income tax for all, than the way they are doing it is arguable, but the services need more money. |

An excellent refreshing budget I thought, by a very commanding, professional and credible chancellor. Triple lock kept (rightly so), pensioners protected, billions raised for our crumbling services so badly needed, no increase in fuel duty (right decison), and at last,.an end to criminals going in to my local shop, supermarkets and stealing up to £100 without consequence. A start on restoring law and order in this country. Taxes raised for multi billion pound companies to pay their fair share. And 50 per cent increase on those using private jets. Too right. If you can afford to travel at that expense, then give some back to the country (Sorry Rishi). |

Man City have become the epitomy of corporate, out of touch, arrogant, cheating, above the law, untouchable football destroyers with fans who have become arrogant, threatening g!ts. I would take supporting Saints over that, any day of the week. They are joined by the other elite clubs Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Man United (who I am loving seeing in the bottom half of the table). One club I have missed out is Arsenal. I hope they win the league above the others. Their fans were decent when I went there and it would be good to see another side win it. But I.suspect City will win it again. |

What have we got to lose? About 20 million pounds to change the manager by paying off RM. Last time, we ended up paying off Ralph, then we had to pay off Jones. We still went down. When a new manager comes in, in our situation, they wouldn't have time to build a squad. They would need results immediately. I dont think we have the players to do it. We will still likely go down in my opinion and could do without having to pay off two managers for 30 million quid. If the new guy comes in and still gets relegated, he would go too, most likely. If these owners, went Cortese style, and appointed a Poch or a Koeman with 100 million to spend in January, I would be all for it. But that won't happen. What's the point if bringing in a manager who is even less experienced than RM, with a poor squad. Remember, everyone said "What do we have to lose" when Ralph went. And we did play well. It could all.come together. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/24680764.pep-guardiola-claims-will-learn-south Ultimately, it's the owners fault for giving RM a new 3 year contract.
