Ashes: Test 2 10:28 - Jul 18 with 5975 viewsDaley_Lama

England win the toss and bat.

Bresnan in for Finn for England

Khawaja in for Cowans
Harris in for Stark

Winning this toss will prove critical psychologically.

We're generally gash at Lords.

Good call re: Bresnan/Finn.

After advocating Finn over Bresnan earlier in the season, I'm not unhappy to see him "rested" either, even on his home ground.

Now if Tremlett could get fit again, that'd be a different matter.

Bring it on.

Sadly, he didn't perform well enough at Trent Bridge. Just hope it doesn't turn out to be knee jerk.

I'd have gone Finn myself, home ground etc but as Nasser said on commentary, I'm not unhappy with Bresnan in the team, a tough call.

Tremlett is at Lords today and has been training with England recently.

A mate at work was being smug earlier about having tickets for Monday.

Rather less smug as the prospect of the test making it to Monday seems to be receding every 5 minutes or so.

There's some right some smug bastards at your place, Barry.

Well, at least one I can think of.

Present company excepted, of course.

Who took her wicket and why was she batting so high up the order?

She should have been castled, having made 87no!

The openers would have been psyched up for an 11am start; having to wait for QE2 to turn up (when it suited her) is pretty rubbish really. It would've pissed Hilly right off too if he'd been in charge in the dressing room (re - away at bury a couple of years back) having to wait for the crowd to turn up, or whatever

Sorry but known for weeks that the German was dropping in and it was an 11.15 start.

In other cricket news, Steven Kerrigan is at it again in a longshot effort for a win for Lancs, taking all 5 wickets in Glamorgan's second innings today

5-53 to add to his 7-162 in the first innings.

Bairstow clean bowled.

Not out, as it was a marginal no-ball.

Thank-you DRS.

In my defence, I call Geoff Boycott. Unaware as I was that the start time had been changed, his radio rant on this matter convinced me that on this occasion, he was right.

And where's the bloody Spitfire's when you need them? They'd have sorted out any Germans dropping in.

In my defence the scrounging old bitch doesn't even like cricket so should have stayed well away.

I would make sweet, sweet love to Ian Bell's cover drive.

Even though he's gone edit.

Bad wickets to lose at the end.

Also, Anderson as night-watchman to protect Broad?

That leaves Broad at 10 and Swan at 11. Weird move.

Chris Rogers out in a ridiculous way, LBW.

I would have reviewed it, not seen hawkeye yet but thought it was missing.

And right I am.

Was missing the stumps totally.

But, because Watson had already stupidly used one review, and the batsman was Rogers and batsman at the other end Khawaja (i.e a young pup) then between the two of them they would have been bricking it to use the last review, for fear of a tongue lashing if given out.

Huges out, nicked behind.

Another review.

For me he shouldn't have been given out, hotspot didn't show any contact.

Snicko however showed that it was the correct decision so they can't complain too much.

And despite Clarke's better test average at no.5 than no.4, it was a backward step for him to move down the batting order

There'll be tears before bedtime
