Schaumaker must be the greatest manager in the Championship as he got the best out of Whittaker with no indication at all of problems. Swansea sold a "problem child" for £1.5m and Plymouth will not sell a model professional for less than , £10m

Cooper did not sign Gyorkeres because of very poor judgement and short term thinking. A £20m blunder. No skin of his nose. Even the fans are easy on him.

Obafemi looks pretty unmanageable at the moment.

It is the managers job to manage different personalities. Forward and goalkeepers are the most idiosyncratic. On the whole Swansea managers have failed and the club ends up with Cullen. As Williams stated a true Jack. 1 Gail in 20 games in league 1 with Lincoln.

Re whittaker, it is what it is, all we know is the childish pr!ck never liked any manager at swansea.

Cooper didn't want gyrokores, end of and even if he did your glory boys would have never stumped up as they are tightwads.

I agree re managers being able to manage different personalities but with whittaker and especially obafemi, they probably tried all 3 coaching practises (oppressive, co operative, submissive) but none of them worked, I suspect with whittaker, schmaker let him do what he wanted, I heard off a few Plymouth fans that he did what he wanted on the pitch, he was lazy off the ball and came to life when they had the ball, most managers want all players to work off the ball, perhaps ours tried their best with whittaker but couldn't put up with his petulant antics and schmaker could.

Schumacher just made Whittaker Plymouths main man. That was never going to happen with Piroe here.

Schumacher vs our recent managers is at least a reasonable comparison though. Succeeded at Plymouth, failed at Stoke.

You always neglect to mention why Brighton didn’t want Gyokores.

Plus at one stage he was benched at Plymouth for disciplinary reasons and given a final chance, which he took. It could have gone either way. But hey if you have an axe to grind with managers don't let facts get in the way. As Keith said "he would have spread his nose all over his face".

McBurnie was known for his "antics" at Swansea but was a £20 m asset. He under Potter missed a few games through illnesses. Potter played a blinder and did not throw him under the bus or not pick him. Baker Richardson stood in for him.

When asked about his frequent illnesses Potter memorably stated they had discussed his transition to a professional and his penchant for all night computer gaming which he was now reducing.

Potter managed an awkward situation perhaps. The club collected £20m. Cooper and Martin did not manage talented players and Coventry and Plymouth each picked up £20m each.

Yes mcburnie is a hand grenade but he would have spilt blood for swansea, he gave everything on the pitch for the team and the fans, would whittaker do that? How many times have you seen whittaker in the swans away end at legoland 😉

I have to say that I agree totally on the inability to pragmatise and make the best out of what you have. The manager at Plymouth could obviously see the benefit in getting a bad apple and polishing it.

Seems that neither Martin nor his successors could .

Martin didn’t have successors. Whittaker demanded to leave the first day of pre season.

Schumacher certainly got a tune out if him agreed.

Piroe realised very quickly that it's not all about yourself and became a far better player for it. Strange that Martin doesn't get credit for his turnaround. He was criticised regarding Obafemi and it turned out he was a waste of space. The jury is out on Whittaker for me, it appears Rangers will not match Plymouths asking price, let's see how it goes the next 12 months wherever he is.

I think there's a big difference between all night computer gaming and gesturing the managers a w⚓ behind his back during training.

Just on for Hibs as a sub two minutes ago.

EDIT

Had about 25 minutes but was largely anonymous. No goal attempts and St Mirren won 3-0 with two late goals.

This is not ideal of course however an experienced man manager could deal with this.

Firstly it is not becoming of a professional footballer or a decent person and team player and is extremely childish. I wonder if someone like Grimes as Captain would take him to one side and give him the hard facts of right and wrong and the views of the team.

"You had better grow up mate and fast".

I suspect that most experienced players give advice to younger players, whether they are causing problems, new to the club and country, it's whether these youngsters take the advice, most do, some don't, it's these some and there aren't many who stick out like a sore thumb.

What gets me is people jump all over the manager blaming them when it's obviously the players causing the problem.

Over the years we have had many young players taken aside by senior players and told in no uncertain terms to behave. The problem we have now is with social media being so prevalent there is nowhere to hide.

Which is why Grimes is so valuable off the pitch. Remember we reported that he has set up a welcome group for new players, and if they have partners, wives, kids etc.

I’m not a huge fan of him as a player but have to question where we would be this season without him. On and off the pitch.
