Lee Clark FIRED. Bucketti HIRED. bury PROMOTION PUSH back on track. 21:17 - Oct 29 with 35430 viewsRAFCBLUE

Now, I'm not keen on bury but I have got to say I've some sympathy for Lee Clark.

He comes in after Chairman Day fires Flitcroft and then goes on a recruitment spree of what I'll define as journeymen professionals supplemented by a gaming of the loan system.

Now Clark has his faults but seems to have copped for Chairman Day arranging signings that he would not have wanted.

I personally hope he wins at Woking next week and stays for a few more league games; the financial papering over the cracks is a timebomb that will explode eventually.

He has a massive constructive dismissal claim coming if Day does decide to pull the trigger.

For younger viewers who don't know, Lucketti came through the youth system at Dale and was binned after just one game, possibly v Hartlepool, possibly the weekend after Hillsborough.

He then clawed his way back into league football and earned a lot of money for the clubs who sold him, Bury in particular.

We also had a player at the time called Dean Walling who was a striker, and not a very good one. However, hidden beneath his bobbins attacking exterior lurked a more than decent centre-half who went on to make about 300 appearances at the back.

Spotting decent defenders was pretty hit and miss back then.

If they do go down the route of Lucketti, it will be a continued slide in the type of manager that they want.

Flitcroft and Clark had "proven" Championship experience - something the Chur was keen on.

Lucketti will be living locally to bury, a former player. He's tried to join bury before as a youth coach in 2010 and reports were that overtures were made in the Summer to work for Lee Clark which he also didn't accept.

Crucially he'll be cheap and willing to do as he's told - a must if you want an appointment there.

Or alternatively... Lucketti is a fans favourite at Gigg Lane having made over 250 appearances for the club and has applied for the job before. He also has substantial experience as an assistant working with some successful teams such as Fleetwood and Scunthorpe.

He's also a less expensive option than the likes of Clark and Grayson etc... Of course this is Bury so on this board we can't win. Go for a big name and we get critisized, go for a club legend and we get accused of being cheap.

Remind me the background of Keith Hill before he become Rochdale manager?

We won last night by the way.. against league leaders Shrewsbury too. Thought I'd let the Dale fans know as they seem to have overlooked last nights result which is strange considering they are usually quite keen on letting fellow posters know how we are getting on.

Yes well done with win, you certainly rode your luck with the woodwork coming to your help and obviously Shrews penalty miss. Fantastic 3 points though - you needed them badly.

If you're thinking that Lucketti is anything other than the cheap option to be puppeteered by the Chur then you're even more deluded than I thought.

The reality on Lucketti is that he followed Graham Alexander to Scunthorpe when Alexander was fired by Fleetwood. He was caretaker twice at Fleetwood and they didn't fancy him for the job.

You state he's applied to be Bury manager before unsuccessfully. I'd ask you to question what is so different about his stature now, other than cost, that makes him the prime candidate?

Hill was our Academy manager successfully for a period before a caretaker and a permanent appointment. Our academy is now, quite rightly, regarded as one of the best outside of the Premier League. His record there and subsequently (two League 2 promotions) alongside excellent fiscal stewardship speaks for itself.

The thought did occur what was going to happen with Ryan Lowe when your new manager is appointed? And Chris Brass? If the new man is made by the Chur to take them then nothing is really going to change quickly.

Bury Times reporter saying it should be sorted by the weekend for former Rochdale player Chris Lucketti to be their new manager.

BBC Humberside report that Scunthorpe are saying they haven't had an approach and they wouldn't welcome one.

Chris Bucketti confirmed.

Chur "has brought club legend Chris Lucketti back to Bury."

He's amazing the Chur - to be able to pull of strokes of genius like that.

Will be interesting to see how he does given that unlike Fleetwood and Scunthorpe there is not lots of money to spend and that he is unproven as a Number 1 in League football.

So much wrong with the website's headline. Should it end "of Day's tenure"?

This is a belter too.

Watching that I think that the manager and the Chur might be a match made in heaven. The ability to spin how great Lucketti is is amazing.

I'll give him 7 months from today - gone by 23rd June.

Interesting comments on Lowe and Brass being part of the backroom staff.

Brass must have some major dirt on the Chur to be kept in a position no matter what!
