A decent journalist who seemed like a decent bloke as well.

Blimey that's a shock alright. I wondered why Neil Ashton had taken over the Sunday Supplement.
Very good writer and equally likeable as a presenter. RIP

Wish I could be like David Watts

Managed to look young and healthy for someone so ill recently, apparently.

I just hope Linkeker didn't really tweet #RIPWooly. He must have more respect than that so I'll blame a PR company that will be scaked tomorrow.

most journos seem to be tweeting rip wooly. He wrote Alec Stocks book back in the 80's, always came across as a nice fella

I had noticed he lost weight over recent months and was absent recently. Seemed like a decent journo. Cancer is so brutal. RIP.

Is the Daily Star cursed or something.
Thats the second football reporter on there to have passed away recently. Last week at Wembley they had a ceremony to name the Press Room in honour of Danny Fullbrook (who died a short while ago) before the Ukraine game.

It's a shame he always worked for such rags because he was actually one of the very best sports journos. Considered, articulate, asking cutting questions that needed to be asked.

Myabe I'm just too old but a hashtag RIP?

I thought the weight loss was making him look good and was a bit jealous. Not the first time I've made that mistake

Alan Green was referring to him as Wooly in very fond tones tonight so guessing that was him nickname and generally used.

always enjoyed him on the Sunday supplement chatting over the footy & seemed a really decent bloke. Shame he worked for the Star as it meant most of us wouldn't have seen much of his work.
