I'd wager a Visa couldve been obtained had the club wanted him out there..
Equally, its rather suspicious that he was training at the club but as soon as the first team return he is going away to train with a team he won't be signing for. If we had a role for him after the 12 games he would be training with the first team.
Equally if he has a role to play, it seems rather odd that he wasn't given a run out at Woking to earn some match fitness.

My proposition, just after the MC game, was that, at the very worst, he could either sit out on the players list at squillions or be quickly kicked out (at a very high percentage of his contract) in the hope that anybody in the FL would pick him up. So why would he go to an FL2 club now in the hope of being picked up AFTER he'd given up any rights to a pay out in the event of a disciplinary failure?

By the same token, if he has a role to play, why is he going to a L2 club on the same day the squad will return to training from Asia?
Surely training with a PL squad will be better for his fitness than a L2 club. Similarly, taking a part in friendlies for us will surely do more for him than a jog about in a Fleetwood friendly....
With regards the 'I'll be a good boy' clause I'd imagine that he had little alternative from a legal standpoint but to agree to it - as for what's in it for him to move on, well he'd be at absolute best benchwarming here behind Faurlin & Diakite so if he can convince Big Sam to blow his budget on him in January he's laughing | | | |

By training at Fleetwood he is sending out a message that he is prepared to go anywhere,so clubs who may have been put off by wages may now think its possible.

i am clearly in the minority here but i hope Barton does play for the club again. He is the quality of player we need, and we'd have good depth of squad with him, Diakite, Faurlin, Park, Derry, SWP, Park & Tarabbt all able to play in Center Mid.
He's got his faults, but he tries hard and is passionate about the club. I'm hoping he is going to fleetwood to get his fitness, and then gets back into the first team squad, and tries to earn a place in the starting 11. | | | |

Agreed. He is one of those players who's contribution goes unnoticed. He'll make anywhere from 50-200 passess per game (in fact, i remember reading that he had the highest attempted number of passes in the whole PL). He gets the ball, gives a little pass, then moves. He keeps the game flowing.

why didn't he play for the reserves on Saturday then? If we want him match fit then play in pre season but it's pretty clear he is not wanted, you only had to look at the complete non mention of him in the season ticket magazine to work that out |  | | |

He did well in the last 6 games, but no better than Shaun Derry and nowhere near what Diakite, Hill, Cissie, Zamora, Mackie and Taarabt were producing.

He makes a lot of good incisive short passes that get us going. It's not specatular but it's harder to find a player who can do that in the Prem than you'd think. He is also comfortable on the ball.

I'm with you, I would have no problem with him being allowed back into the squad. He put in some excellent performances in the run of home wins at the end of the season and was always guaranteed to give 100%. He admitted that he was out of form for most of the season and towards the end of the season he seemed to click with the fans.
I feel the 12 game ban was excessive. Also If he learnt to feign injury (i.e. Tevez and Johnson) he would not have reacted in the way he did at city as he would have been too busy writhing around on the floor like that pair of d1ckwads. |  | | |
