Non-QPR - shameles plug on 17:21 - Mar 3 with 1081 views | mart_Goblin | Just go play . Put the name around and try and get gigs up and down the country . A booking agent is fine but to start with the band members need to do it all themselves . Agents take cuts of everything too. Playing live is the fun bit and it’s what gets you exposure now along with social media of course . Festivals and gigs . Every weekend . It will cost for a while but things will start paying for themselves after a while which then enables t shirt sales etc. Just have fun .

Playing for free can work …for a short time . But I wouldn’t do it for long . small fees cover van hire , fuel , food etc Plus you need to be wary of playing for free and then at some point down the line asking for a fee. Venues, promoters , agents etc are often linked and if you ask for a fee from one and they know you played for free elsewhere, you won’t get paid . To begin with, they should go play everywhere they can . Most decent promotors will offer a small fee or put the band on a decent bill for no fee, that way the exposure is worth doing it for nothing . It all takes time, patience and roughing it though . We slept in Bedsits, doss houses, abandoned caravans and in our vehicles for a long time before we started earning money for hotel rooms etc .

We used to play up and down the country every weekend. Tours when we could get time off work. I miss those days... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Based in Fleet, Hampshire, so Southampton is easy.

Joiners Arms is a no brainier then . Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth too. Brighton obviously has a number of good little venues too. One other thing sprang to mind too whilst on my way to work . Use the University towns and cities . Students are out in the towns they are studying most of the week in some capacity . So cities like Nottingham , Leeds , Exeter , Glasgow , Sheffield for example have big music scenes and good venues . Obviously during term time though 🤣
