Norwich losing heads, ref good and Morrisson lucky 07:56 - Dec 9 with 4929 viewshoops_legend

I was surprised to see how much Norwich lost their heads. Yes we were good, much improved and forced them into this but I felt like Norwich completely lost their way - couldn’t string their passes together and a lot of their players were lucky not to get sent off

That greasy combover chap (was it sainz?) was completely out of order and complaining to ref all day

Also who was the player who shoved one of ours into the advertising boards / surely that’s a red as that’s malicious and not football

Onto our players, when Morrison upended their player when he lost the ball - was that almost deserving of red card? It was good tactical foul from our perspective but from a football perspective it’s cynical and not good for the game - thoughts?

Generally though I was happy with referee who called all the fouls right

Poll: Would you rather win league cup or survive?

The ref handed out 5 yellows to us and 2 yellows to the budgies. I am, of course, biased but that alone shows the ref was not fair. We were not more than twice as dirty as Norwich. In fact, they committed 12 fouls to our 8.

Totally agree with you regarding Norwich losing it. I said on the thread at half time it was a Corporal Jones moment of "They don't like it up 'em", they were rattled
It was good to see us playing at such a high tempo, and pressing so well.
The ref did seem to miss a few nasty challenges, there was also a stamp on one of our lads, can't remember who now, by the Stan stand, that should have been a yellow. The ref may have taken conditions into account as it was atrocious.

Thought the ref was very average......also though Norwich were very average but that may be because we, generally, played decent.

Think you may be referring to their young lad at left back (Fisher?) who done Madsen with six studs?

It was a red for me but he didn’t even get booked.

He was then hooked at HT

As for their star man Sainz….. props to Dunne & Co as he totally lost his head and his mind was anywhere but on the game. Was a walking yellow card but unfortunately I couldn’t find an in play market to back that.

Regarding the ref I thought he was one sided to Norwich but his linesman at our end is now at the top of my Christmas card list

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Referee missed an awful lot. Very bad challenge on Madsen, the incident with Morgan, and the Ashby handball were all big incidents and he missed all of them.

Norwich came across as very entitled. I think they turned up expecting to steamroller us, clearly didn't happen.

We were aggressive, niggling challenges, high energy press, giving verbal off the ball. Its the first time I've watched us at home this season and thought we looked like a horrible team to play against.

Ref was a strange one. Seemed more intent on getting throw-ins taken form the right place rather than blowing up for cynical fans.

However one thing that he did get right (although no-one around me would agree) was booking Nardi for twice trying to take a free-kick from the wrong place a minute before half-time.

This is good to hear. Opposing teams and fans have been coming to LR and having an easy ride and a jolly nice day out whilst collecting three points at our expense for too long. A good sign.

Ref wasn't great. Wasn't terrible either, but we've certainly had better. Linos on the other hand, wow. No complaints at all. Can't remember the last time I've been able to say that. Norwich's players were definitely childish. I thought their fns showed much more maturity. I was also convinced Borja Sainz would talk himself into a red card. Instead he talked himself into a poor performance at least.

Always seems to me the refs who worry about the tiny details in the match are the ones most likely to miss or bottle the big decisions that actually matter.

Norwich have always come across as entitled when they play QPR.
They expect everything to go their way and when it doesn't they bitch and whine.

They still miss hardman Todd Cantwell.

Sainz was lucky to stay on the pitch with his continued bleating. Should have been yellowed for throwing the ball away when a decision went against him before he eventually got yellowed for that assault on Ashby. Still Dunne did manage to break his nose in the first few minutes with a sly elbow in the first few minutes.

I've never seen my another ref insist on a keeper taking a kick from the exact spot. I don't know if Nardi was doing a French version of Manuel and pretending not to understand or genuinely didn't know what he was being told to do. I know the ref made a mark but it was always behind him (Nardi) and he may not have been expecting a mark in that area of the pitch.

Having tried to defend our keeper, I would like to see refs consistently enforce keepers taking their kicks from the correct spot.

Nardi was taking the pis and deserved the card.

Yeah in the 42nd minute when other keepers get there’s in the seventh minute of injury time in the second half when playing against us.

That lino had an interesting game I thought. He looked a bit older than average and missed at least a couple of obvious fouls and frees early on. But he was good with the old flag!

Also noticed him talking to Ashby on the throw in after his yellow for time wasting - he seemed to be saying "Hurry up or he's going to send you off" - the concern on his face was quite unusual. All around a bit of a character who I would welcome back.

Smyth really got to Sainz too - they are definitely not on each other's Xmas card list. Seemed to amuse Jimmy at least.

The handball not given caused a couple of grand mal seizures in the Norwich ranks, and they definitely had all of their toys out of the pram by full time.

Ref was crap exhibited by his refusal to book Norwich players but only to happy to book ours. Norwich average at best and Rangers played really well with spot on tactics by Marti and carried out to perfection by the team

Look, I know nothing about football but even I could see whoever was in our left back position struggled. Paal, Saito, Fox, Morrison when he went over there for a bit - whoever it was thought they were prime Maldini but in reality looked like a toddler running with scissors. Why the banjo-twiddlers didn't clock this and move Sainz away from the imperious Jimmy Dunne, I can't fathom. Good for us though.

one thing he did get half right was the dive by Angus Gunn, fella deserved a bafta for the limp afterwards, Kolli didn't get near him and he should have been booked. We scored about a minute later as well

The Ashby handball was right in front of me and was as blatant as you'll ever see

The Ellerslie lino was amazing I thought. Although the bloke behind me pointed out that he was actually just doing his job......:-)

It was great to see Naarch get rattled. I'm behind the goal in the Lower Loft and there were plenty of communication breakdowns/disagreements between Gunn and his defenders in the 1st half. In the 2d half we had them pinned back extremely deep for several periods. The stats are misleading in that they had over 67% possession but loads of that was their defensive third and they just couldn't get out. And when they did they kept fluffing their passes. Great to see the effect of Rangers' endless efforts to win every single 1st and 2nd ball

Sainz was an odious little greaseball all match.

Yep pure simulation (cheating) and should have been carded. The Kolli header just after was even sweeter and Gunn rightly got dogs abuse (mostly by me).

We were owed a non-penalty after the Watford away one wasn't given

Norwich were worse than Cardiff for me - crap at the back, created very little up front, all over the shop temperamentally, and astonishingly lucky not to get at least as many yellows as us (and probably at least one red). Re their two offside goals, the first one was off; the second was very, very tight. The handball appeal for the pen (Ashby?) would have been damn harsh but could have been given on another day, so you could say we got a bit of the rub of the green, but I don't think they deserved anything much from the game. We out- fought, out-thought, out-tackled and comprehensively out-scored them without playing a ton of football, and Kolli was (literally) head and shoulders above the rest.

We keep pressing high and competing like that from hereon in, and we'll pick up plenty of home points. No way, all of a sudden, do we look like a relegation team.

Poll: What points will we get from our 'Festive 3' (Swansea A, Norwich A, Watford H)?
