| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I sponsored them a couple of years ago. They've had their trials, tribulations and going bust but fair play realised that they had to stay in the English pyramid for any ambition or credibility after the rest of the rebels caved in apart from Newport of course. [Post edited 10 Nov 0:11]

Thankfully Merthyr have some ambitions and want to better themselves than play in the Dog And Duck league. People said same thing about Newport, and they resisted it the football league has to be the ambition

I know this might surprise you but Newport is a city with a population of over 161,000. Merthyr has just 58,000. Hence my point about needing a major backer, Wrexham style. Without that you cant get into the Football Leagur and stay there. Never going to happen. So a dose of reality means the real choice is playing Truro, Weston Super Mare etc forever, or try to get into Europe via the Cymru Prem ? If the Cymru Prem is a dog and duck league then not sure what the makes our own u21s who got thumped 5-1 by TNS in last years League Cup Final. Or perhaps TNS are not that bad after all - 🤷♂️

Yes, and i do like teams giving TNS a game. TNS played in Ireland in European action just on Thursday night mind, so probably a great time to play them.

I’ve enjoyed immensely the TNS euro journey this year. Looking forward to a bit more glory for them.

Yes indeed, and they play the right way - a modern possession based game.

Unless they go professional they wont challenge TNS. The whole league might go pro with FAW funding so that will help with challenging TNS. Standard wise Merthyr already have the plastic pitch like every other side except for Ferry and Caernarvon (i think). Playing standard they would challenge for Top 6. Rivals with TNS, Bala, Penybont, H’west, etc. That said Colwyn Bay only survived 1 season. This is maybe why FAW have not said how they get from 12 to 16 teams in 2 years. I think European football again clearly trumps the cold reality of WestonSuperMare, Truro, and Bath. They are not a Wrexham or Newport however much some might think they are.

I would have thought FAW would concentrate funds and talent in 8 clubs playing each other four times rather than getting 16 teams.

Its a valid point, but the standard counter is that the product feels tired with too many games vs same teams. More teams might see standard drop in short term though ? The other strange part is that ‘the Friday Night League’ is the new approach. But north-south transport is shite for players and fans alike, people work/schools. More chance of fans in a Sunday afternoon maybe ? Anyhow the FAW have spent ages looking at the options so we have to trust them. I think its this year and next year as steps to the big launch in 26/27. Each club has a funded post this season so its in motion.
