RIP Desmond Tutu on 13:28 - Dec 26 with 1485 views | kensalriser | Farewell Desmond. Some may say you deserve better than to be immortalised as a sporting synonym, but we all know there is no greater honour than to be accepted by ordinary Londoners into the pantheon of rhyming slang.

RIP Desmond Tutu on 18:35 - Dec 26 with 1352 views | dmm | Tutu was a beacon of hope during some of South Africa's darkest times and a guiding light in helping its many ethnic groups find ways forward when apartheid crumbled. His Book 'No Future without Forgiveness' is an astonishing read which brought me to tears. Rest in power, beautiful man. [Post edited 27 Dec 2021 10:55]

Surely it must be “ no future without forgiveness”? If it’s the other way round it’d make for a pretty bleak future! Apparently he was really disappointed that the peoples of SA never really made up following the ending of apartheid.

Thanks hantssi. Of course, it is 'No Future without Forgiveness'. I posted after numerous glasses of wine followed by a really good port. You're right about his post-apartheid criticism of SA governments, past president Zuma in particular. Tutu would lay into any government he believed guilty of gross injustice, for example, he regularly described Israel's treatment of Palestinians as an apartheid similar to South Africa's. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
RIP Desmond Tutu on 12:32 - Dec 28 with 960 views | Esox_Lucius | There appears to a media wide censorship of his support for Palestine taking place. An emeritus professor had his comment removed in a couple of the newspapers he commented upon this side of his work. So much for free speech and an unbiased press.
