Excellent news, can only be of help to the town and it’s people.

It is good news up to a point if they are going to rejuvenate the Drake Street area.

When I was a lad a lot of people got off the bus at Wet Rake and walked down Drake Street into town. That was genuine footfall and doesn't happen any more. Metrolink wouldn't install a tram stop there on the grounds of cost and the buses just sail through.

The building of the Exchange Shopping Centre and the Wheatsheaf centre with the ensuing emphasis on chain store shops rather than smaller, independent retailers hastened the decline.

There are parts of Yorkshire Street that need TLC as well though

That's really good news. Drake St was a thriving shopping area when I was growing up, it'd be great to see it busy again.
