Lots of people flabbergasted that we can or would pay so much.
This is a lad we were going to pay £10 million for last year and a reported 45k a week and not many batted an eyelid.
If we get him for free and pay him 80k a week over 3 years then we are essentially getting him for £5m and paying him 45k a week. Same situation as last year but for half price.
The only concern i have is the impact on the other players. But as professionals they must understand that someone who has taken a personal risk to run their contracts down will naturally be getting paid more as a result. Just the way it is. [Post edited 23 Jun 2014 10:07]

Two years ago, our record transfer was £3.5m.

Transfer fees are one off expenses that can be put through the accounts quickly. Long term wage costs are what kills clubs.
If we are seriously interested in Gomis then it'll be for an affordable wage with substantial "signing fee" to offset that. I'd be amazed if we offered him much more than about half the reported eighty grand on a weekly basis. | |

Anyone got a photo of Gomis holding up the jersey today?. I think he will go elsewhere personally but it is great to see how far we have come in the last few years I remember get excited when we signed players from league 1 when we were in the bottom tier. |  |

That's the fault of the people doing your merging not of the function itself. By that standard you may as well remove the ban function because the people doing the banning often ban people that shouldn't be banned. And that's far too many variants of one word I the same sentence. | |

You work the same way as me in so much as bans are generally not bothered with and merges are equally as pointless (normally because when we had them we used to fcuk it up anyway) so for me there is no point
